Re: Event Discussion: Visions [2024/05/30]
This is an emotional event for me. I started playing in April, 2016. About a month later, I got one of my oldest and closest friends to play. Fleets were already a thing, but they seemed run by people who took this game way more seriously than we did. Captain level requirements, crew roster requirements, commitments to do homework to maximize game play... Nah. So we created our own fleet so we could have our own squadron and be as casual as we felt like. To our surprise, we actually grew the fleet to max capacity for a couple of years. If anyone dropped out, we'd replace them by the end of the day.
Then the general player base enthusiasm waned, it became harder to replace players, and our own interest dwindled. We kept up with it, though, and when something new was added that appealed to us, we'd compete again, then go back to being lazy about events or skipping them altogether. When 23rd Century Martok was introduced as the first Timelines Original, I wanted a Niners Jadzia. It's wild to me that was eight years ago. It's cool to finally have her in the game.
I never spoke about it on the forum or even with my own fleet, but my friend was diagnosed with terminal cancer a few years ago. I almost quit the game entirely around then, but the habit gave him some structured normalcy, trivial as it was. I don't want anyone thinking this game had a profound effect or anything so dramatic. It didn't. But it gave some continuity that didn't require much from him. So I stayed with the game, solely to continue sharing it with him.
Some time in late 2022, he quit playing but I remained active in the event he should feel like tapping away at his screen for a bit. He popped in a few times, but it was rare. I lost him about an hour after my birthday ended last December. I think about him all the time. When I saw Niners Jadzia in the rewards table, my first impulse was to tell him. He wouldn't have been as excited as me, but he'd have thought it was cool. We'd have chatted a bit like in the old days. He'd have at least bothered running some shuttles with whatever crew I shared to help me rack up some more VP. This isn't some astonishing breakthrough in the grieving process making me realize that he's gone. I've had that realization for quite some time. It's just that this is the first time since I lost him that anything in this game has been of enough interest that I've had that impulse to share.
I may compete this weekend. If I do, it's not gonna be some "This one's for him!" thing. It'd be silly to the point of insulting to dedicate tapping for some pixels to the memory of someone I loved who's gone. But if I drop out of competing, it will be because that memory of him will make these pixels feel too hollow to enjoy on whatever level there's enjoyment to be had in them.

Re: Player Positivity and Accomplishment Thread
I can’t remember if I’ve done it before or not, but it’s cool to make 25 straight wins without a save during a single round (no dilithium to save).
Re: Player Positivity and Accomplishment Thread
Finally a 12 hour voyage for all pairs!!!

Now, is the text on this one gold because you listened to our previous feedback? Or just because it matches the backdrop?
Re: Player Positivity and Accomplishment Thread
My first time being the “First to Max” a character…and a Riker no less!

Also, not sure what the alphabetization scheme is, but still do not see 🙈 Prisoner Cornwell, who literally used her medical specialty while a prisoner, listed as getting the "Physician" Trait.....
Because they are the Delaney sisters playing the twin mistresses. They are no more hologram than Captain Proton Paris, Buster Kincaid Kim, or Arachnia Janeway.
But Twin Mistresses of Evil should have Costumed like those other 3 crew to reflect that they are real people dressed up as fictional characters.

I only needed to buy one pack to get both new crew.

When y'all introduced the new Stats image for the new Legendary in Events, someone pointed out that the name should be gold, to reflect it is a Legendary. {And the name should be purple if there is one posted for a new SuperRare.} Y'all did the name in gold once, the following week, and then went back to blue text, implying the Crew shown is Rare.....
No sarcasm intended Captain, but do the 5 stars not help to realize is a 5 star Crew? The name's color is mainly focused on matching the design. LLAP
I agree with DScottHewitt here. The stars being at the bottom make them easily dismissed by a person looking quickly at things.
A lesson TPG would be wise to learn: looking cool is often not the best strategy. What looks good to one often isn’t the best way to present information, which I assume is the goal here.
Especially when colour has been drilled into players since the beginning of the game to associate level of crew and equipment. The game decided that colour matters, it's not just players being finicky.
Re: Continuum Missions & Quipment Discussion Thread
It's very easy. We don't need the information that our crew is level 100. This we know, because only immortal crew can play the missions. So delete "100" and put there the points for the next level.
Re: The "Briefing" Livestream.
Long time lurker, first time poster. You are as much a delight today as you ever have been!
To answer your backhanded, passive aggressive question, because you ARE the most important person in the room at all times - Yes! EV Suit Gorn is going to be a new, Continuum Mission Reward crew. It will take approximately 3-6 months before the Gorn shows up, as the design process we were lucky enough to see after 9 years and be a part of takes time, art mostly.
In the interim, there will be another Continuum Mission Reward crew - but no clue who that is or when. There will also be a new Gauntlet Exclusive crew being added to the game soon, again no idea of the timeframe for that.
Hope this answers your questions, your majesty!
As opposed to your not so backhanded insult to someone who was asking a legitimate question?
