Tweak to Galaxy Events

Could there be a tweak to how galaxy events work? Right now, we use basic and common items to make items and collect points. Could this be expanded to include uncommon and even rare items?
One way this could work is to perhaps have a fourth or fifth crafting choice for items that are crafted exclusively with uncommon items or epic items for extra victory points & copies of the bonus items compared with the normal three choices.
I can’t keep feeding these items to the replicator, not when other items like surplus ship schematics, training programs and replicator rations grow out of control. Using them more in weekly events seems a good way to go.
