Item Drop Rate accuracy

Please update the drop rate for 3* Emitter Crystals on Thy Enemy’s Secrets at Elite difficultly. It’s listed at 5/5, and after dozens of pills, it’s clearly NOT an 81%+ chance of dropping.

Also, is this something that’s submittable for a ticket? I’ve dumped hundreds of chronitons into this mission trying for Emitter Crystals which rarely drop. I shouldn’t have to double check the Wiki or other third party source every time I want to farm exotic components.

I’ve come to disregard the in-game drop rate recommendations entirely...they simply cannot be believed. 0* text books and 0* casings are some of the many items that are egregiously off compared to reality. If they are going to be there (and they should, for new players or others who do not have the knowledge, time, or inclination to go to a player-updated third-party resource), they need to be accurate.

While we’re at it, a simple five-dot system isn’t really cutting it either. How about chronitons per item drop or item drops per [X] number of runs?

Does anyone still actually use those?

I use the game suggestions plus personal experience. I know there is a better list somewhere online, but I play on my phone and can't constantly flip to other references.
  • New here, but yeah the Devs need to fix this. I find it infuriating to be trying to farm for something and be down to my last few dilithium and see I could Warp for an item that shows a drop of 5/5 only to get not get it. Have gone to some nodes and warped for the item I want almost 20 times before even getting one. How is that even possible? Definitely need to fix the drop rates.

I must say, of course, most players agree. However after exhausting efforts 6 yrs ago to balance the % advertised system, or get rid of it, we lost.
What it comes down to is this… % can be defined as “chance”. While most humans see % and think is a stable rate based on a scale of 100, it can also be defined as “chance”. There is always a chance of zero.

I think that it is showing the odds of it dropping compared to the other possible drops for that mission. Not a relative chanve from mission to mission. I also think that each mission has different odds for each item. In other words, if there are only 4 possible items in a mission and it is a high percentage item, you are nearly guaranteed. But if there are 8 different possible items, you are less likely, even if the item is a high drop possibility. So the number of dots indicate how likely it is to drop compared to other items in the same mission, not how likely it is in reality. This is why some missions (usually ship battles) have fewer dots but actually have the items drop more often.

I don't know any of that for certain, but it is my conjecture based on 7 or 8 years or so of playing.
