I have the same issue on all of my account, and it has nothing to do with names, tried it on a couple of random players. Issue happens on iOS and Android devices.
And it happened the same time on all of my 3 accounts, so i doubt it has something to do with a max of players you can block. Since for sure i blocked way more players with my main account than with my 3rd.
I also had this issue arise on my iPhone. I have not blocked anyone in my time playing Timelines, so it’s not a cap on the number of blocked people. Given the potential for harassment of players, I hope this issue is getting the attention it deserves.

I can only guess the person you were trying to block, set up their name in a way to somehow prevent it from happening?
