keyboard hotkeys on steam?

would it be terribly difficult, or awkward, if you could set keyboard hotkeys for ship actions within steam?
I like using steam, however, ship battles are actually easier on the smart phone! quicker mashing of abilities.
On Steam, mouseclick can be a bit slow/inaccurate. Hotkeys would solve that! heck, even just: "zxcvbnm" would work great for the ship abilities ??

This would make it easier to create bots. The bot software would do half the work by mashing the keys, all the player would have to do is start the fights, and collect the rewards.

No, wasn't asking about macros, or bots .. just wondering about in game keys to use .. but I didn't think about how it could be abused ... so "oh well" .. that **tsk tsk** ..
