Better Fleet Management for Officers
It is no secret that StarBase upgrades are all the rage these days. But can we request some improvement to Fleet management in regards to our Fleets? Specifically, can DB look into changing the UI in which rooms are recommended and which aren’t? I’ve been an officer for a long time in my fleet so I’ve only seen it a certain way for a long time. Maybe highlighting the borders a brighter color like yellow or gold? Or lock down the other rooms not ready for upgrade, etc.
Since Fleets are an integral part of the game I’d really like to see some improvements when it comes to inter fleet communications/notifications. (Like can the Admiral or Officers get a read receipt when an important communications has been read and acknowledged?
We use LINE and others use DISCORD. I just wish we didn’t have to rely do much in line to convey our message because the Fleet section of the game needs improvement.

I would definitely expand on the idea a bit though. You're focusing primarily on chat points and I agree, it really would make life better if officers and Admirals could tag a particular message as "important" and be able to see if it has been viewed by the recipient.
Adding to that, I honestly think that there should be the inclusion of a proper Vice Admiral rank in fleets and that all versions of Admirals should have the power to mark a message "Priority One" to any fleet member, such that a separate flag would show up on your screen like the Event button. As if to say, "YOU! YES, YOU! ***YOU*** NEED TO READ THIS, NOW!"
I have a couple dozen other ideas about how officers and Admirals should have better tools, but I won't waste page space needlessly

Have you been naughty? Playing with yourself again? Has another fleet touched you in bad ways? Don’t worry, we will train you…. Gently. Light bondage only. Bring your own handcuffs, though…. We don’t supply them.
We’re not those other guys. Here we shower often, and we treat our members like family. We know how to whip some serious tail, yet no one is left to shiver out in the cold. If you need advice, help, strategy, tips or anything at all…. I and my officers are here to help you.
Currently, we're looking for more good people to enjoy the game with us, and we offer a TON to our members, in return. We prefer level 50 members and above. Lower level players than this will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
We use the DISCORD app for all our fleet chats (it's free). We're much better organized than many other top-tier fleets in the game, while a heck of a lot more relaxed and much more fun to be a part of. I have numerous other former fleet Admirals who joined me, and we have a world of knowledge and experience to share with you. Sure, we all love the game, and we enjoy playing it often; but we're also a fun family of kooky friends from around the world, who enjoy playing the game together. On top of playing, we also hang out often and share plenty of good laughs, an excellent supportive environment and one another's company.
It's OK if you don't play every day. You don’t have to be a daily player, but the more you play the more fun you’ll have with us. So long as you let me know ahead of time whenever you know you're going to be offline from the game for five days or more, I won't kick you for inactivity. You can send me that message on DISCORD at any time you need to; it takes only a moment. That rule helps keep our fleet as active as possible.
All Captains MUST have a name other than just “Captain” so that others may recognize you. We have no drama, but instead are a close-knit group of good people who treat each other as if we’re both friends & family.
WE’RE ALMOST ALL VERY HIGHLY ACTIVE, and help is never far whenever you might need it, at any stage of the game, nearly 24/7. Whatever your skill level, we can help you.
If you are interested in joining our fleet, please feel free to message me and I will be glad to assist you.
Free steak & Lobster available from our resident chef upon joining (alternate meal suggestions are possible), drinks available through our in-house bartender/barista/host. Please be sure to tip your wait staff. They're nuts, but they're worth it.

PM for details.
So long and thanks for all the fish.
I think this is more of a problem that the built-in direct messaging system causes messages to disappear too quickly. Then again, I’ve had trouble getting so many people in my fleet to just respond either in direct messages or in fleet chat rooms that it’s maybe their problem and not the system’s.
You’re not a lone. Hence the reason for my post here. I believe with Fleets being a critical part of the game now, better Fleet management across the board including Comms is critical now.

I really like your idea of highlighting the rooms with a gold box. That's a world more recognizable than the blue ribbon currently employed on a blue background in a blue room.
Locking down the other rooms, I'm not sure would be a great idea because what if a player has parts for another room but not the one recommended for upgrade?
Finally, after playing this game for quite some time, I very much believe that if DB did more to improve upon our chat function so that so many of us wouldn't have to rely on third party sources just to know our messages were getting thru, that would be a very serious plus for all. Excellent points, all.

You know, I never thought about that. It could be the way I play but I usually have 10’s of thousands of every component except holos. So for {ACE} Fleet we have a room with the holo donation and one without. I’m almost to level 80 so you’re right and I need to think about what it was like in the early days when I may not have 700 units to donate.

I'm with you, in always having plenty of parts to donate. Not everyone in my fleet always does tho. I've gotta think about the fleet as a whole, recognizing that even tho there's always room for more growth, locking them out of the ability to contribute the daily max with what they have, might not necessarily be in the best interests of every fleet. Good idea in concept for some, something to aspire towards for others.

I think it's a combination of both, though more in the hands of shortfalls of the way the chat is currently set by DB. What's the point in posting messages if they disappear? Do the people I'm sending those messages to even see them? Why is it that if a player doesn't come online quickly enough after you send them a message, they never even get to see it? All these things could be fixed by DB. Why isn't this being addressed? Who knows... But it SHOULD!

I think we can scratch the lock rooms idea. You brought up some good points. I do remember hearing some non-officers that they have a hard time seeing the recommended rooms. Which is why I wish there was a better way then tickets or complainingnon the forum here to get information like that to DB. StarBase shave been around for a long time now and we shouldn’t see formatting issues and hard to read recommended rooms. They could even change the entire interface and not make it a scrolling list. Where it is blatenly obvious which rooms are recommended. But I’ll settle for a gold border of some sorts.
And the Comms definitely needs a rework. The UC is a joke and combersome to follow and full of trolls and to be honest, I wouldn’t care if it went away. But Comms through out our fleet, I agree with all your points.
I would also like to see some better interface between Fleets too. I recently became friends with members of another fleet(s) and it’s really fun to interact with them and share success stories. I get the whole competition thing but there is plenty of us to be friends with some. At least my opinion anyway.

Hey SilverRose! I don’t think we’ve actually “met”. Heard so much about you.
Do you feel those options should be available to all appointed officers or just the fleet Admiral? I can understand the fleet Admiral has certain rights in the Fleet management, but what happens when he/she is busy? Then I feel those responsibilities should fall to another Admiral, which in game is an officer.
Which makes me think, {ACE} uses a rank structure, instead of haveing 1 Admiral, however many Officers, and the rest enlisted, I think it would be cool if we could assign rank based on Star Trek and then all we would need is for our members to add their tag. When we assign their rank it automatically shows up in their username. I think that would be cool!

Every US Navy (as well as many of the others around the world) ships have both a commanding officer and an executive officer. My fleet has more than one fleet admiral. I wish I could appoint one of those as my executive officer, who would share in all the same rights, responsibilities and permissions as I have as Admiral. For the sake of the game, the rank could be Vice Admiral. Starfleet has plenty of those.
As for the rank showing up automatically in their username, I love that thought. Anyone in a position of leadership within a fleet should be able to proudly wear that rank in public, as it may be. Perhaps Admirals would become Fleet admirals with this, as well. Underneath everyone's displayed name, you could see if they were a Fleet Admiral, Vice Admiral, Officer or Squadron leader. Those without leadership positions would display no such rank. That way, as we go thru the game and encounter others from around the game, we know who's who better.
