Ok - I couldn't resist going for the 2x Tucker deal - his Engineering skills aren't too shabby, making him my #2 place Engineer now... What I wasn't expecting were the extras!
Well, here we go...
1st pack opened.
Already had Klaa immortalised, so - honour...
Pack 2
Nice! Here's Tucker!
Pack 3
1st Behold - took Crusher.
And there's my 1st Q...
Pack 4
Sweet! Another Tucker!
Pack 5
Klaa again. And Klaa-ng went the airlock door...
Pack 6
Ahh, Mr Tucker. Right this way. Come join the others...
Pack 7
Tucker again! Sometimes the placecard does this when I've had a few of the same..
Pack 8
1st Behold gave me the last Odo I needed - nice.
2nd Behold put a 3rd star on Janeway for me...
And another Q.
Pack 9 - this one surprised me somewhat!
1st Behold was an extra star for Lily,
2nd Behold introduced Doc Crusher to the crew. (Might as well, I thought, as she's the monthly reward as well and Max Headroom, sorry... Rasmussen was heading for the door anyway.) Plus Doc Crusher is in the Cryo rewards as well...
And then the last two opened. TWO Legendary Event cards in one pack? Thank you RNGesus!
And finally, Pack 10...
3rd Q plus honour...
So, just from the packs alone I had the first 2x Tuckers from the deal, then 6 dropped from packs. Laziness then kicked in and I DYC'd the deal to get my items up to Lvl 50...
So right this minute I have a Lvl 90 5/5 Black-eyed Tucker and a Lvl 40 Black-eyed Tucker at 4/5... Should make the event run a bit easier!

Also your money, your choice how to spend it. Some people blow 100s of bucks on a drinking weekend and the only thing they get for it is a kingsize hangover . For you it was worth it, RNG was on your side as well, so grats again.
Psssst, this is the STT and not the Xbox rebate games forum Jimbo. Maybe you mixed that up. Don´t thank me, my pleasure to help
WOW do I disagree with this statement. Spending $100 on a night (or two) out, you have a chance to add a great memory to your life, and enjoy some social development. 20 years from now or even on your deathbed, are the odds better you'll remember a great night/weekend with friends, or that time you got a bunch of Boxer Tuckers in a mobile game using tech that may not exist anymore?
Now imagine he buys $100 packs 5 more times instead of socializing, and no longer has those friends. Of course it's his money, but let's not pretend the two activities you compared have the same likelihood of long term fulfillment.
A drinking weekend would not necessarily have memories unless someone took photos... lol.
Blotto!
I play STT completely blind drunk as it’s the only way to sanely grind through skirmish events. It also illustrates how little thought and skill this game takes. This is not an “either or” situation, open your packs and a bottle of wine and the same time.
As I will never be able to purchase like that it's cool to live vicariously through someone who can.
So the next day I was sure I was about to hit a slump and only bought $24.99 event package....and my oh my! Two tuckers, DEFENSIVE PHLOX FINALLY!!, put a star on gangster kirk, and fully fused new Q. Best money I've ever spent in the game!! Glad to hear the legendaries are flowing freely this week!
For those folks who know me on here, you would maybe recall that a year ago, I was in the most desperate position of my life.
I'd lost my home and friends two weeks after going through major surgery to save one of those friends' lives and was left with nowhere to go and no money. I managed to get a place to stay after a week living (?) in a hostel, thanks to some amazing friends/former work colleagues who clubbed together and paid for the hostel bed. I was already off work due to a knee injury and couldn't get that surgery done until 6 months had passed from the donor surgery, so I had zero funds. Until I could get my accommodation and benefits sorted out, I was truly struggling from one day to the next. For that first week in the hostel, scared, hungry and alone, unable to walk any distance because A, my knees were knackered and B, I'd just had a kidney removed (- which was still causing me serious discomfort), life, for me at least, was probably at its worst point...
But do you know what? I discovered not only who my true friends are in the "real world", for want of a better term, but I discovered an amazing and supportive group of people in my fleet. Here, in this semi-virtual world.
Every day when I got back to my bunk in that hostel and set about charging my phone, which was one of the only possessions I still had left, I was helped along by the wonderful people in my fleet, none of whom I'll probably ever meet in person, but who were all there for the same reason - their love of Star Trek and the principles it helped to instill in folks.
They kept my spirits up when everything around me had crashed to the floor. Who knew that such a simple little game like this could have such an impact...
Now, for those who haven't already switched off with this long and tedious story, I'll try and shorten things and bring you up to the present day as quickly as I can.
A few months back I had a very big surprise in the form of a chunk of money that I wasn't expecting. Overnight, my life changed. I was, and still am, the same person, but I wanted to treat myself and my friends to a few things I couldn't afford at the time. I had a couple of nice trips away... and I started spending a bit more money here and there on one of the few things that still gives me pleasure - this game.
I do apologise if this offends you in any way - it certainly wasn't my intention, but you know what? After the year of hell that I've endured AND survived, I felt like spoiling myself a bit. Life's too short. I know that all too well from the time I've spent working in the NHS.
To the friends I have in my fleet - thank you. There's every possibility I wouldn't be here now, if it it wasn't for your words of support and encouragement.
This may be just a game, but it involves real people. Real people who care more about each other than whether or not some character is canon or not.
REAL people who can make connections and memories in both the virtual and the real.
Ultimately - as some of you have already stated, and thank you.. who cares? It's my money to spend. I'd rather spend a bit of money on this one game (and it's the only game I play) than go out drinking in town. Been there, done that. I'm on the wrong side of 50 now and have NEVER OWNED AN XBOX. I don't want to blow $100/£100 on a boozed up night that i probably wouldn't remember either! And around here, you'd probably get robbed or stabbed anyway. When I see people blowing thousands on hiring fancy sports cars to show off at special events, or spending similarly outrageous amounts on ridiculous designer clothes or a £250 steak? That's what I call wasteful. But if it makes them happy? Fine. I'm not them.
Anyway. Enough.
For those folks who didn't see this post as anything other than "This is what I got from the Event packs..." , thank you for the positive and on topic comments!
My game play, for me, was only made better by the addition of these packs. It didn't stop any enjoyment of what was going on that weekend, nor did I just stop playing once I'd hit threshold. I enjoy the banter with my fleet mates and I keep going right to the end of these events BECAUSE I ENJOY IT. Nothing else.
A year ago I had nothing. I still enjoyed the game. I marveled at the crew my fleet mates were collecting, but I felt no jealousy towards them. They had money "to burn" as some people might put it! I learned the tactics of the game from my friends and plodded along with nothing more than a monthly card to entertain me and still got a massive kick when a new crew dropped! Now I'm in a position where I can enjoy things a bit easier than I could, but I still remember what it was like...
I may get run over by a bus tomorrow - you never know what's around the corner, and I've had an all-too-vivid look at mortality over the years.
Take a deep breath and look around you. Enjoy life when and while you can.
I make memories. I've made some pretty immense memories over the last half century. I've made some incredible memories with the incredible people I like to call my friends in my fleet too...
Sorry for the ramble. I was genuinely surprised by the reaction of a couple of individuals to what I thought was a relatively innocent post. I'll keep 'em to myself in future!
Not in the way most people thought... his wife stopped taking her prescribed anti-depressants 2 weeks before the surgery and lost the plot. I'd been living with them for about 2 yrs as I was also one of his carers. While we were in recovery, she'd pretty much decided she wanted me gone.
He has some, erm, "interesting" medically induced mental control issues as a result of his anti-rejection drugs and she pushed all his "trigger" buttons one morning, told him some carefully prepared lies and let him loose. My best friend of 10 yrs kicked the door to my room in and the rest is, well, history.
I slept in the woods that night and was taken to hospital by the police the following morning. Not an experience I'd care to repeat.
But for the time being, right now I'm trying to get over some of the emotional damage with some good old fashioned retail therapy. It's true when they say you can't tell the future - this time last year seems so far away now... I still have the nightmares and flashbacks and no doubt will continue to do so for some time to come, but the brief little bursts of pleasure I get from playing this game, particularly in the interactions with my awesome fleet buddies, help to keep me sane.
If some of the people on this forum can't process this attempt to rationalise, not justify my little moments of fiscal fun, then all I can suggest is that you just let it flow past you, zen-like... I don't play the game to win all the toys - I play because it's a tonic for my soul.
I remember spending $500 one night. I won't forget it but I will always regret it.
Sincerely,
Belle

I don't know what to say. That's pretty heavy. I understand why you play that way, I guess one of the reasons I play a lot is also because it has helped me overcome trauma. I get it, totally. And I wish you well. Life can be a real trial sometimes even for the best of us, and I know personally that you can do the right thing every time and still get hit by a steamroller that totally screws you up. I want to cry for you right now, but I've got to make a decision and I need to eat. That makes sense, right?
