Can a DB employee participate in an event?

I understand mistakes are going to happen and, in my opinion, DB generally tries to make it right even if we do not always see eye to eye with the form of compensation. What I do not understand is this: why does the player base always seem to be alerting DB when there is a problem with an event?

Questions: Is there a DB employee who plays these events along with the player base and who can report back in real time what he/she is seeing? Is this against some policy for an employee to play an event?

I would hope there are test accounts that are back doors for staff to do post-beta testing.

  • I think in the past there were a few players from DB that spent their actual money on the game and played. I think they've all be fired, for other reasons, now.
  • There used to be a fleet of DB employees. But yeah, most of the ones who played seriously, like Test2, have been fired.

  • I d say if they do, they prob just like sending 1 shuttle out and crafting 1 item, and then call it a day. Obviously they are not even close to hardcore play their game as most players do. Otherwise there wouldn t be so many bugs and glitches.

Shan is usually quick to see stuff on the forum. I wonder if someone there plays and says, "Shan, get ready for <fill in the blank> on the forum."

It is also possible that their one or two accounts did not experience the error. Or if they did, they may not be as dedicated as those here and just don't see the error as soon.

Or conversely, someone there plays but doesn't like Shan and keeps his/her mouth shut knowing the impending shatstorm to come.
    My 8-Point STT Strategy:

    1. Voyage.
    2. Have fun. If something isn't fun, don't do it.
    3. Only pursue characters I care about.
    4. Contribute to the fleet.
    5. No more spending beyond monthly cards.
    6. Have fun.
    7. Voyage.
    8. Have fun!

Don’t forget, it’s soon to be ‘who plays DB’s game’ (not games pural).
With STT the cash cow that it is for them, we ought to be being treated like royalty right now.

  • There used to be a Players Committee. That should be resurrected, given access to beta versions, and DB should take their input seriously.

Honestly it was more about DB being able to say that the council existed than it making any real difference from what I hear.
Come join our fleet! We're a great social group that helps each other. You play the way you want to, participate as much as you want and if you want to be competitive, you can be! Check out our fleet ad:

  • They do play.
I'm not going to name any names, cough cough, who are DB employees and have gotten First to Max on multiple Legendary cards, some long before they were added to the portal.

Now now, even though I got Kilana first to max before she was in a pack or in the portal, I assure you there was no foul play involved. I also absolutely can't, for example, in any way effect decisions about what events will be created.

Hence the last clause in my message. :)

Yep. I was on that committee. We were mostly used as proof-readers for mail that was going to go out or event page text but not very often. Mostly it was just chatting with Nod and Becca on the Line app

They have so many people who would be ready, willing and oh so able to help them make a better game. The echos in these forums are proof of that. Why they don't take advantage of this tremendous resource is beyond my comprehension.

  • I think what motivated my post was the well-worn path where an event goes live, there is some error, the player base reports it on the forums, some time later we get the "we are looking into it" response (a genuine thank you to Shan and her efforts, btw), and then the player base waits to see what the fix will be if any. That pattern almost appears as if DB wouldn't know there is a problem with an event unless we reported it. Hence, my question about an employee playing the event.

I like the idea of using a small portion of the player base as QC for events and general game play.
  • Sad thing is DB has an incredible wealth of resources at their disposal if they truly wanted to be better. So many players with backgrounds in game design, writing, programming, and just simple common sense customer service... So many have offered to help for free...
