I spent 55-3* and 1-4* time boosts. Sent 164 shuttles total. (Previous most was 152). Was 3% over expectation for success, still struggled to stay in the top 1000. Normally I can finish pretty comfortably around 650. Ended this at 950 with numbers I think would normally have left me top 350. I didn't use any extra shuttles since I didn't have the extra event crew to use. Not sure if it was the rent-a-shuttle that caused the most issue, or simply that Spock was the reward. Really hoping it was Spock though as future faction events might be a bit easier.
I get that this doesn't really add much to the discussion, but what with one thing or another I didn't see any real attraction to using the tokens to try to get ahead. Being from the convict colonies I always start behind on faction - by the time I drag my bleary-eyed backside (don't try to parse my metaphors) into work and get going Friday morning, a lot of players have been shuttling five hours already - and since my poor old iPhone 4s (it's a good phone, shut up) weeps at the sight of fancy games, I can only play when I'm sat in front of a computer, so there are big chunks of time over the whole four days when my shuttles are sitting around complete and I'm not there to bring them in and send out new ones. Or I'm asleep. And then the timezone thing happens again at the end, I finish my last shuttle set and go to bed Monday night, everyone else gets five or six hours to pull off their last-minute pushes and leave me in the dust. So unless all the top players get similarly lazy, and migrate here, there's really not much incentive for me to try for high rankings.
So I just did what I always did and ended up pretty much where I always ended up: made the 250k threshold reward (I only really want the legendary equipment spot, anything else is just gravy, but I should say it was nice to have a couple other rewards between that and the 250k one), ended up ranking somewhere in the 3000s for a 3/3 Weyoun to work on. The shuttle tokens stayed on their shelf, and I feel like they're probably going to forever.
Normally I'm all in for top 1000 in faction but sat back for both in-game and out-of-game reasons.
Did not use any of the Rent-A-Shuttles, but I did use some gold time boosts Sunday night as I decided to go ahead and clear the thresholds rewards rather than risk missing it. Still finished in the top 2000.
Yep, crazy tough event. It remains to be seen if all faction events will be like this or not. Would be good if DB expanded the legendary lvl to 1250 instead of 1000.
I had a very limited event crew this time, Commando Shran + 4x4* Andorians, 8 Dominion (Not including Thot Gor who is useless until he gets at least 3/4*s)
I purposely tanked last weeks Galaxy, partly because I hate galaxies, and partly because I could care less about another Weyoun. So I started with No Event 5*, which is unusual for me.
I used 14 of the 16 Shuttle Rental tokens spaced out over friday evening through Sunday evening,
I only had 45 3* boosts (used them all), and I really didn't have time to do a proper jump start.
I only had 2 shuttle fails between Thursday and Sunday night, and 2 more Monday Morning.
The only "extra" I spent was an additional 150 dils on Cadet for shuttle boosts, since I was very low this week. All I really wanted was Capt. Spock, and to beat my fleet mates. I succeeded at both with little effort, and essentially no $ spent.
Yah if you didn't think this was a blood bath, I am not sure what you were expecting?
I dropped from rank 400 to rank 800 with just little over an hour, that is insane lol.
That being said, I think it is good, we need competition to keep this game alive and fun.
Also I disagree that it is impossible for F2P to rank under 1k now. I am not F2P however, I did not spend any dilthium on this event, and only used 2 of the shuttles we got from the threshold rewards, and was still able to rank under 1k. I didn't even get the benefit of squad leader on that account, and still pulled it off.
Did I sleep much? no not really;) I woke up every 3 hours like an insane person ;p
Did I use a lot of reducers? YES, but last time I checked those are available to F2P players also. (I think I used like maybe 30 or so)
So is it hard to win without spending? sure, but I would not say impossible.
I mean there is a reason they are called Legendary s right? I don't think they are suppose to be easy to get ;p
Just like everything else on this game, whether you are A Whale, A minnow or a Guppy, or a F2P, You just have to pick your battles.
Lol it looks like I'm in a very small minority who didn't think this event was too bad!
I was expecting, due to the newness of the rentals and the Spock that was on offer, that everyone would be so determined to finish sub-1000 that anyone who hadn't purchased any of the offered boost packs wouldn't have a chance. I was adamant that I would not buy any of those packs and would just play for free. With that in mind, I was expecting a 1000-2000 rank finish.
So when I say "it wasn't the bloodbath I was expecting" I mean that, aside from a couple of rental tokens being used, my gameplay for the event didn't change at all from a previous faction event and I still finished in the top 1000.
I have a feeling that a future faction event where the offered 5* is not as wanted as Spock would be easier still.
But be warned, if people start to stockpile these tokens, then a future "shuttlegeddon" is a very likely possibility the next time DB offer up as super loved character as the reward.
Sure, again, failures and human element come into play that muddy up the 'perfect' numbers. But that's why you should be a squad leader and get 50, 60, 90k VP of shared points from your teammates.
90K? Wow. Most I got was just over 20K from my squad sharing my Weyoun.
I ended up with rank 685. I've never tried for going under 1k in a faction event before, I've actually only ever gone under 1k once and that was for Mirror Troi and that was a galaxy event. I've mostly been a threshold and out type of player, sometimes I'd stop at the SR and if I was low on merits then I'd go for the merits and every once in a while I'd need one or two stars on the SR for rank so I'd try for that.
I do a modified version of the kick starter, using the 10 minute boosts on 20 minute shuttles, I don't burn through a lot 3* time boosts on KS. I start using those once I get to 4k. So depending on my needs I could be done with the event by either Saturday or Sunday. Sometimes I only run 3 shuttles with the time boosts instead of 4 cause the 4th one wouldn't be high enough % and I run all 4 with x2 rewards at night.
This weekend I figured I'd get through threshold as fast as I could as I had a deep bench and depending on my rank when I was done I'd either go for it or stop. Turns out I was 600 ish when I finished threshold so I decided to go for it. When it was all said and done I spent 36 3* boosts 11 4* and 3 5* I also used up all 3 X2 rewards boosts I had. Penk missions were giving me 90% success rate, I failed twice LOL.
I did not use a single rental token as my fourth shuttle was always between 70-80% success rate and I figured a 5th shuttle would be a waste of rental and time reduction. TBH I didn't always use a time boost on the 4th shuttle opting instead to use skill boost instead and be almost certain of 4k at the hour mark rather than have both fail and end up with 1600 VP. My squad netted me a little over 7100 VP.
I didn't find this event hard at all, I didn't set any crazy alarms in the middle of the night granted I am a person that really only requires 6 hours of sleep so I'd go to sleep around midnight and wake up by 6:30 for work. I did however try to send out new shuttles within 5 minutes of getting the push notifications of my shuttles coming back. I bought no packs or boosts associated with this event, I used a citation to FF Penk. All the boosts I used were in my inventory, the shuttle rentals played no part in getting me rank. So I for one did not see this as shuttlegeddon or find it very difficult. This was probably due to the fact that I was succeeding on 95%+ of my shuttles I don't remember too many failures to be honest.
I think that as people begin to stockpile x2 rewards and rental tokens it'll become more of a blood bath as f2p will be going all out whenever a great card gets offered. But for now I think that shuttlegeddon only played a big part on top 25 rankings. My .02 credits
Used all 24 shuttle tokens, 21 5* time boosts, 48, 4* time boosts and lost count of 3*s. Used Dil to buy out the runs with the 4s and 5s. Only failed 6 missions during the event. Finished 54th. My best finish in an event is 7th. To me, this one was tough, and the last faction event for me for awhile
Founding ADM - PoF family of fleets (POF, POF2 & POF3) - Dear TP: Non sequitur. Your facts are uncoordinated.
1) it was tough, at least from 500 to 1000 there was a difference of perhaps 40k VP that's just 10 shuttles with the possibility of boost hoarders and tokens that it is a very uneasy slim margin of safety, and it proved so especially on the 11th hour I was ranking around the 500 mark but by the end I was down to 890s (and yes I threw in a couple of boosted shuttles myself, but saved my tokens).
2) This is not pay to win as such but, and there is a big BUT - it makes consistent high level of participation that much harder and whilst the "OK skip an event or two brigade might step in"
I would say DB wants consistent participation in events but they are forcing the little spend here, little spend here very subtly, it took me an age to get to the freakin' dabo wheel. Force a little harder people won't participate in events - isn't that going against what DB is trying to encourage/achieve?
I want to participate in events most if not all the time - helps the honor wagon going, even though I am debating whether to work on a second Shran instead of the 800 honor. For now I can store him and decide later what to do with him. But if I am in a position where I can't complete my objectives I will have to sit some events out thus lowering my honor progression rate. Events have a knock on effect not just the obvious resources you use in the event but the rewards you receive by the end.
But also if you are forced/encouraged to sit an event out doesn't that also diminish the winning of your legendary even further if you're sitting their featured event out. Thankfully next event isn't a faction hybrid but ask yourself what if it was?
I do like the addition of this kind of strategy in the game but time will tell whether it is suitable for this kind of event, Do I really want to be looking at the leaderboard constantly on Monday also?

Did I use about 7 shuttle tokens? Yes.
Did they make as much as a difference as I thought? Not really.
What got me in the top 1K is the same thing that got me in the top 1K of any other faction event. Burning through about 20 1.5 hour boosts and waking up every three hours over night. Before you complain about how we shouldn't have to lose sleep, blah, blah, blah. I really didn't lose much sleep at all.
Drunken Dahar Masters is recruiting active players.
PM for details.
You had to be on the money with your shuttle timing, pull off some lucky 9 hour shuttles and prep yourself for the overnight drop.
I think the rental shuttles were not a big factor due to the limited number of event crew. People had lower percentages of success after their normal 4 went out. Sending out 10 shuttles in pointless if 6 of them have a 50% chance of success.
Up around 150-200, there wasnt much up and down. Clearly from the 500-1000 range there was a lot of moving and shifting going on
Used no tokens and maybe 8-10 3* boosts. Tracked my shuttles, consistently sent at 3 hour clips, succeeded shuttles at an overall 95% success rate. finished 300 something.
Yep, crazy tough event. It remains to be seen if all faction events will be like this or not. Would be good if DB expanded the legendary lvl to 1250 instead of 1000.
So 1.25% of the players instead of 1%? For one single gold card which is more often than not a drain on crew slots?
I’m not as concerned as some about an overload of requisition tokens, because outside of the top 25 (who play a different game than the rest of us) there is a limit to the number of crew that can yield good success rates. The nutty end to the event is likely from a lot of people timing their last round of shuttles to finish in the last hour of the event where the scores for a large range of ranks (400-1200) is rather flat.
I think requisition tokens could affect kickstart strategies but that might gain people less than two hours of time to get up to 4,000 point shuttles; without a number of 4* and/or 5* time reducers it may not be that much of an impact.
It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I finished a few places past 3000, so about normal for faction. Didn't push hard during the event and probably could have gotten more VP - got the voyage token just about. Used 2 rentals to make sure I made the threshold in the last run. Bit of a pain as the clock change means the event starts at 1am, not midnight.
I think the biggest advantage will be to the players with the depth, who will usually be the ones above VIP0. I got quite a few Dominion crew, Shran, Shras and I struggled to have all 4 shuttles at a high percentage. With 100 slots it's hard to have the numbers needed to crew all the shuttles.
This event was all about "cherry picking" your missions, bonus crew, and a good kickstart. I used no SRTs this event and stopped using shuttle boosts Saturday morning. I also did not wake up to my overnight alarms for 2 nights of the event this time. Decided to sleep instead. The difference in the event for me was sending all missions out at over 90% and 3 of them were over 95%. I was able to finish right around 500th. While there was a lot of movement around the 1k mark, I didnt see much out of the ordinary higher up or down lower. I think some players that were close to 1k were willing to spend dilithium at the end to get him.
Same situation. I did a jump start w/o boost and used no boost or shuttle rentals. Miss a couple 3 hour slots due things like real life activities and sleep. Crew bench is pretty good and only failed 3-4 4k runs. Ended up in the VP 300k range which was in 3000's and missed Max Threshold by one tier.
I did like the extended threshold rewards tier which kept me playing the whole period as there was something to aim for.
This event was all about "cherry picking" your missions, bonus crew, and a good kickstart.
Agreed. I did push more than usual, but I optimized which crew went on which shuttle mission, and only ran those 4 (or 5) missions. I had Shukar 1/5, Penk 4/4 (1 from pack, 3 from threshold) and Shran (4/4) and a 6 assorted bonus crew with good shuttle stats. I also ended up using Leonardo (5/5), Ru'afo (5/5) and Assimilated Torres (5/5) as they were better than any bonus crew I had left.
I used up my stock of time boosts - 42 3* (I think), 10 4* and 9 5* shuttle boosts. I used 4 shuttle tokens with my remaining bonus crew and 5* CMD bonuses (78% w/o boost). All shuttles had a 83% or higher (time boosted) success rate.
I managed to fail the one 2x reward boost shuttle with 93% success and 2 9 hour 2x reward boost as well . I value my sleep more than shuttles, so I missed a few shuttles opportunities overnight.
I ended up 313ish which is better than I expected.
