How did you play the game before IamPicard?

As someone that has been able somehow to play the game WITHOUT IamPicard, I'm curious how all of you that are whining and complaining were ever able to play prior to the app being available? This is a HUGE overreaction IMO. The game is meant to be played the way the developer says its meant to be played. If they developed the IamPicard, charged us and then removed it...THEN you would have a complaint. But as is, R-E-L-A-X people.

It's like going on a road trip with and without a GPS. Sure it can be done but there is a huge difference in amount of time and effort needed. In the end this is a game, a lot of people might not have the time.

And GPS can fail. I used to work for an ambulance company. We were taking a patient out of state, had a very detailed complete address. GPS took us to a similar address FOUR COUNTIES AWAY

some people may choose to use gps, some may not. it's not totally necessary, there are directional signs posted on highways after all. maybe that's how the engineers intended for us to navigate, but their signs aren't always the best. so i choose to use a gps. others may find gps (iap) to be inaccurate and find that they can get better routes (crew choices) with a map (wiki) or just highway signs (in-game). but allow me to continue using my gps. it's my preference, and we'll all reach our respective destinations either way.

    Well said.

However, one point. No one took "GPS" away except the person who developed it. Whatever his/her reasons. Being mad at the people who do not like or use "GPS" as a whole group is wrong. Not everyone who opposed "GPS" harassed the developer. Not everyone who could not use "GPS" called for its removal, either.

Many thanks @[DD] Kirk Induced Self Destruction, this thread started off very strong in the first handful of responses, I was laughing so people around me were annoyed!

the fact as you say, never used the IAP App, you don't realize how much of the game in it self is glitched and how many short comings there really are.
as a simple example, here is a hammer to go build your dog house, never mind that the handle is broken and is cursed to bend every nail and causes all the boards to splinter. the claw side is missing one of its claws and cant remove any nails. but you may not use any other hammer.
IAP pointed out all of DBs failings, and made them bearable.
but if you never knew of the failings, then you would go on living in ignorance, you seem happy that way. if you never used the IAP App, then you dont know. so are not in a position to judge regardless of it being available to you for so long, but now you will never know.
DB needs to fire the Ferrengi and higher more Engineers, Rom doesn't count.

  • I used the wiki a lot, and spread sheets.
The biggest differences were with Voyages and completing missions that I didn’t have all the stars for.

Rather than fumbling through my entire crew roster looking for that one specific person that could Crit a nod, I could pop on to Iampicard, and check the that missions to see if it was even possible. Then go into the game, make my crew selection and run the mission in game.
    Same with Voyages.
I didn’t like the recommendations the tool gave for Gauntlet crew selection though.

I've been wasting chronitons and merits all these years then. Checking the freezer to see who I think would crit nodes. Unthawing them. Playing and realising they didn't cut the mustard. Spending more merits to unthaw someone else. Spending more chronitons to see if that one worked.

    I feel silly. 😐
