I have left the game

Dear Community,
This message is to say where I was at, to say thanks and to briefly say why I am leaving. This has been a very sad and emotional process for me but it’s a bit of a relief too.
I started playing two accounts nearly 3 years ago. I reached VIP 13 so not a big spender. I played long-term strategies to build up my fleet. I was only ever a member of two fleets. Freedom Fighters! was the first. Thank you to them for looking after me. My proudest achievement was joining Star Ship Trista, the best fleet in STTL. I held my own in the fleet which gave me a great sense of satisfaction and achievement. The people in both fleets were fantastic and I will miss them all.
The reason I am leaving is DB. About three days ago the Iampicard tool stopped working for me. That was the final straw that broke the proverbial.
For three years I put up with the poor performance of DB. Broken promises, poor communication, non-existent QC and QA. They failed to use the community, a free resource, for the benefit of the product. The poor performance for me was more frustrating because, before I retired, I had a career in software development. I know what was being done and how it should have been done. I feel that DB have no love for or pride in the product. One minor example, the sort order for selecting voyage ships should be in antimatter order with the greatest being visible. The point is that no programmer should have coded it like that, no manager should have accepted and when pointed out, it should have been fixed. My last look at Engineering a couple of days ago, I saw 4 issues regarding Convergence Day that quite simply shouldn’t have happened. Sure the demise of the IAmPicard tool was not critical to playing STTL. But it felt like it was a move from Blu-ray back to VHS. Once experienced you just can’t go back. Not caused by DB but they didn’t nurture the tool and said nothing when it went.
So my thanks to FF and SST (now recruiting). SST just maxed their starbases, the first fleet to do so I think. I would also like to thank the community for some very interesting discussions but also to the hard work of those that supported the game with their time and effort.
Cheers,
Scott and Scott Too.
