I have to assume that that’s the version of her who ends up in a room full of corpses, where (almost dead and paralized from the waist down, after a non-specified period of torture and a failed escape plus murder attempt by L’Rell) where she talks Tyler through some sort of dissociative episode while shooting down Klingons with Burnham’s phaser.

So why doesn’t she have the Survivalist trait? I mean, if anyone deserves that trait, then it’s her

My interpritation of Survivalist is that it refers to hazardous environment survival (either background or training, like Yar and Chakotay, or situational, like Stranded Quark and Odo), not survival against armed foes, but I could be wrong.

Her circumstances in that particular situation qualify as Desperate for sure
