Can DB use Star Trek: New Frontier?
in The Bridge
Last year DB used Mirrorverse characters from a comic book. And who doesn't love Buff Picard, Baby Arm Data, and For gods sake put on some clothes Troi?
But years ago Peter David created a series of books based around captain Mackenzie Calhoun and the USS Excalibur.
While there would be issues creating art for characters created for novels, Are there legal reasons DB couldn't use content from the books? It had a couple of characters from TNG so at the very least it could be a source of variants.

My take....who cares? Lol. It does not hurt the game one bit to have non-canon characters in it. If you don't want a non-canon card, the beauty is you don't have to keep any of them, just airlock to your heart's content.
A lot of people also didn't want TAS crew in this game either, and I for one am elated they are in this game, in fact, we need more of them. TAS had a ton of potential for deeper stories and it'd be a waste to leave that all to staying as an obscure 70s cartoon.
Captain of the voyage vessels: Queen of Bashir, Landsknecht, and Sunspear, the first luxury starship cruiseliners.
Amenities include wifi, fully-functioning holodecks, a full-service bar, 3 party decks, a Trill spa, and a business centre.
Fun fact: The ships are propelled by bouncy castle technology.
Amen to that. I can understand why Roddenberry was hesitant to include TAS as a canon work but if you look past a few things it was incredibly charming in its own right.
I agree with you and @Lady Gaghgagh who cares? The game is about the Timeline being all fudged up anyways, so canon, non canon, what difference does it make? None of this is canon as none of it “happened” anyways.
Not because of any personal objections to non-cannon or anything like that, but honestly, I really didn't think the books were very good.
I read the first 6 or 7 when they first came out and I did enjoy them as an adolescent, but they were definitely aimed at a young adult audience. Looking back now, I would find the storylines pretty hard to swallow, and the writing style harder. (I'm currently reading Homer's Iliad for comparison, lol. Also hard to swallow and a tough writing style, but probably easier to read.)
I think it might be fun to introduce a few crew from that series to the game, but I'd do it slowly, and I'd start with ones that have versions already in the game: Lefler and Selar, for example.
This also reminds me. Why don't we have Lt. Cmdr. Shelby in the game yet?!?!?!?! Maybe if they do a re-run of the Borg mega event, she could be the recurring legendary.

Shelby is beyond overdue. No clue as to why they have held her out this long.
Riker's in her way?
Would definitely be a welcome crew.
Forgive me for being totally oblivious. What are you talking about?

They later 'explained' that there are two captains with the surname Shelby, which isn't a big stretch of the imagination of course, but seems a bit, I dunno, nitpicky.
You need to merge Geordi, Wesley, Nechayev, Keiko, and Chakotay. Good stats but only works against Malon.
(It actually was Geordi too.)

I think it would be awesome if DB had a poll about the different trek books and comics and the top winners were put into the game. I really enjoyed the mirror TNG comic addition. I liked getting and reading the comics and then getting the crew in events. Would like mirror Barclay too from that comic.
I really liked the addition of the Mirror characters from the comics. I need to check back. The Reference Librarian was getting the graphic novels. Our local library now had a pretty good sized Adukt Graphic Novel section.
I only have an older pic, from before the collection expanded to shelving on the other Wall, to the left:
So I got it eventually but that's not a euphemism we have here, and for quite some time I was trying to figure it out and all that was coming up was Data having spare heads like Kryten that he keeps in a cupboard and talks to occasionally.
She was at the helm, had to leave (the head is off the right rear of the Bridge, IIRC), returned and three more alien Ships had shown up to fight over whatever was being fought over........
