Maybe you already tried this, if not, try shutting down your computer and restarting.

Yes, thanks, I did already try that, as well as making sure all the updates were current. It has happened before but those times just restarting the game fixed it. This time, it gets to the very end of the "priming spore drive," stops and then pops the error. :-(

I don't use FB so I am not sure, can you access player setting to change how much memory the program window uses? If not, perhaps the global computer settings can be modified so you can allocate additional memory for applications.

This is sometimes solved by removing gameroom and reinstalling it.

No, FB doesn't allow you to adjust any of the settings other than notifications. It's very frustrating! This is the discussion I found on the Unity forum. https://forum.unity.com/threads/webgl-out-of-memory-error.526123/ and since FB uses a 32 bit browser, the devs need to adjust the code to account for that, and rather than telling players to reinstall Gameroom, they could actually fix the problem.

Thanks Shan. I did that and am now in download misery as every image and every faction center and every mission has to download again, too. It's taking hours. I found this information if you'd like to pass it along to the devs so players don't have to keep reinstalling gameroom and going through this. FB uses a 32 bit browser, so if there's a way to use a 64 bit browser, that would likely solve the problem, too, but I'm unfamiliar with any other way to play play the game on my laptop.

Bellatrix, what are the specs of your laptop and what browser are you using?

As for playing the game on your laptop, Steam might be an option?
You could play on FB itself via a 64 browser also?

    Thanks for the info Shan.

The laptop is an HP/Win10 system with 4 GB ram and the memory usage never exceeds 50% of capacity, even when the Javascript Error "Out of Memory" comes up.

I could not find the option to play directly on FB, only through FB Gameroom and that is only 32 bit. I will look at Steam and at the FB page and see if there is a non-gameroom option.

I have several 64 bit browsers including Firefox, Opera and Chrome... So, I'm sure if it's available strictly through a browser, one of them should work. When signing up the only other option presented to me was through FB Gameroom and not directly on FB for some reason...

That is very odd that you were not able to easily find how to play the game via FB itself.

You should be able to access it easily from the link on our FB page, and here is a url that I hope will work for you.

I think I know why now, Opera is my default browser and it is not supported by Unity WebGL so that's why it didn't load directly from Facebook. I'll try it through Firefox. Thanks!

So I use Opera as well and I just bypass the warning and it works.
However you might need to accept 3rd party cookies or whitelist the game.
  • Thanks, I will try it!
