New voyage crew slot.

Voyages currently have 13 seats, 12 crew slots, and yourself as the captain of the voyage.
Let's add a 14th seat, so the ship will have 13 crew slots.

The idea is to create a role for the new seat, and you could suggest crew members who could fulfill that role.

The new slot should hopefully be needed in some form, but that is not important. Ideally the crew slot should be as unique or wacky as possible, or the card filling it be wacky.

Ideas could include chef, table clearer, corridor sweeper, the guy who makes the silly noise when the doors open and shut, Bill who replaces the fuses when terminals have just exploded, Rimmer cleaning the replicators, or the woman just running around the corridors for days on end.

My idea, toilet cleaner. Toilets are never mentioned on star trek, but the ships must have them. There must also be cleaners to keep them hygienic.

Toilet Cleaner crew member: Ambassador Neelix. He would have to have a lot of diplomacy for when he enters the bathroom when female crew members are relieving themselves, and those facial bristles and hair would really help him do his job.

“Don’t you people from the 24th century pee?”

Good times. Anyways, my vote goes to Warp Plasma Injector Cleaner, 4th Class.

Chief Operations Officer -- this was Data's role on the Enterprise-D and Kim's role on the Voyager, distinct from being Chief Engineer or a member of the Engineering Department.

(I know, you were trying to be funny and here I am ruining it with a serious suggestion, but the lack of this slot in the Voyage crew manifest has always bugged me.)

Serious suggestions are as welcome as less serious ones.

Wild card. You can put whoever you want in this spot to fill out your weakest skills

If you are going to do that, you need to add 2 slots: one for the COO and one for the ExO (Executive Officer). But in reality, I figure that is what the first two existing CMD slots are for anyway.

The way Voyages are setup now with the 2 slots per skill, you will never be able to add slots with the current configuration. It just can't be done, whilst keeping the integrity of the game consistent.

Unless you add one wild card slot

XO already exists -- it's the First Officer slot. Other command slot is for the helm officer. Only missing standard slot from a 24th century Starfleet ship is COO.

Another option would be to add a slot called "Mission Specialist," which would allow you to augment the two main skills needed for this particular voyage. Basically the slot Shelby filled in Best of Both Worlds Part 1.

You guys missed the incredibly obvious:
    Expendable Redshirt.
This crew is actually removed from your quarters some point after the 6-hour dilemma. I recommend keeping a supply of Angel I Riker's, Shinzon's, AEC's, etc. for this role. Upon the crewman's demise, you get double the normal amount of honor from traditional airlocking.

Mirror Reed. He even died in the episode.

  • George: The officer in charge of publications, sporting events, crew training records, commissary officer, ect

Running to battlestations crewman, you gotta have a person running to battlestations. Otherwise, there wouldn't be anyone at battlestations. You need to have a battlestation well stationed and this is accomplished by a crewman battlestation runner, running to their aforementioned battlestation. Wherever the h*** the battlestation actually is on the ship.

Agreed. That was my exact thought as a serious suggestion. A seat with no trait or skill specified. Just fill it to supplement whatever skillset u need.

    Captain's protégé

That one character in every star trek series who is effectively taken under the captains wing in order to help them discover themselves and become the best they can be.

As portrayed by Spock in TOS, Wesley/Data in TNG, Jake in DS9, Seven in Voyager, Tilly in Discovery and Porthos in Enterprise.

    Who will yours be?

I like this idea but I think Nog much better fits the category in DS9 than Jake since Nog followed in Captain Sisko's footprints and career. Or both of them.
