  • I thought I might have a shot at this faction event to get the 5*, given the number of boosts and extra shuttle tokens I had saved up. But I'm not going to even come close.

Anyone else seeing this one as being extra-competitive?

Yes. I wasn't really interested in the character, so I wasn't pushing hard, but I'm doing noticeably worse than I expect for playing regularly just with no extra boosts.

This seems to be just the way it is these days. I used 1.5 hour time reducers all of Thursday just to make sure I would clear thresholds by the end. I a no where near 1500. Seems the new way is to have to do quite a bit extra just to get that 1/5

I think it has to do with all the campaign goodies and more players stockpiling and just having more bonus crew by the third week of a mega event. Then throw in a few who thought it wouldn't be as competitive and thought they might get a cheap legendary. Then once they committed, they stuck with it after it got competitive.

  • Works for me.. you guys burn those time boosts on a weak(er) legend when we've got 2 more consecutive weeks needing them. :)

Not necessarily "quite a bit" extra. I didn't care about anything going into Saturday other than clearing the thresholds. Once there, I was fluctuating up and down between 800-1300. No ceiling to break this time it seems, (or probably much higher up the leader board).

Friday I did the usual, a few time boosts and a couple 2x multipliers. Over the weekend I just sent out 4 shuttles most of the time to maintain position, but I did a couple extra from time to time.

Total "extra" shuttles over the whole Event: 11
Total time boosts over the whole Event: 8
    Shuttle fails: 3
0 Dils spent (I never do for any event)

    Holding pretty comfortably at 1130-ish
I want to become a Dilionaire...

I don't think it is time boosts. Or, not exclusively. The campaign extra shuttle tokens is more a factor. I have 50 of them still and have never bought any. I used at least 15 this time. I have a score that guarantees me top 1500 at the moment. I use time boosts early on to get to 4000 point shuttles quickly. I use reward doubles and extra shuttles after that the first two days. Then I just run 4 shuttles at a time with skill boosts and the occasional time boost to coast to top 1500 finish. I accumulate resources faster than I use them. ...Although three faction events in a row will challenge that.

I could certainly be wrong in my assessment. Just an idea thrown out there. The boosts and shuttle tokens are certainly a factor. Also perhaps it could be that when I’m going casual on a faction I just do the 9 hour ones while I sleep. Is it just me or does it seem like those fail more often than the others?
  • DavideBooksDavideBooks ✭✭✭✭✭
I do the 9 hours, too. I usually have at least 1 of them fail. But most of the rest of the time I usually have at least one shuttle heavily skill boosted, so I don't worry.

Personally, I'm quite busy at work on Thursdays, so I spend Thursday evening and all of Friday going HAM to make up for it, and then use a combination of time boosters, doublers and extra shuttles depending on what my schedule looks like and the percentages/depth of my event crew. I almost always do 9 hour shuttles overnight.

But going that hard at the start tends to make it very comfortable for me for the rest - I'm sitting in the high 400s with just over 600k VP right now.
  • With about 11 minutes left I am at 1500 on the nose with 517,830. I've got a batch of shuttles about to come in which should make me safe, but it's made for an uncomfortable final couple of hours.

Junior definitely should have had a Science skill; he uses 42 Science Experiments, one of the hardest 0* items to farm. (Which, of course, completely cleaned me out)

then be sure to focus your cadet tickets and ad warps on cadet mission 3 on epic level today :)

I second this - was able to get maybe a dozen with strategic ad doublers.

After giving it some thought, I think the same is happening to me. I can usually hit 2200-2500 when taking it easy in a Faction event and ended up at 2,927th. As long as I clear thresholds I don’t mind too much.

I usually go full throttle with Faction events, but I decided no to on this one. Mostly because the final prize was more of the same, and I have little incentive to go full throttle next week as the next final prize is already in my inventory and the flashback event is something I'm really not interested in investing in as there will be no rewards for my crew.

But even so, I thought the shuttles in this one were quite competitive. I could have run 5 shuttles with boosts, but it would have been tight. Then I saw the early surge and said, "Nope, not gonna do it" I was able to manage threshold and out (plus a few more Maquis shuttles for the easy loot)

Happy with my ~3000 finish. Sadly, my money spent will also probably go down through the next few events for the same reasons above.
