Probably a lot of merit refreshes and dilithium refreshes/revives. I’ve been where Bylo has been at with just lucky matchups and lucky rolls (never any dip spent and almost never any merits spent either), albeit temporarily...but over 1000 trophies ahead of the next competitor and more than double antobe else? I can’t imagine that kind of performance happening any other way.

I remember finishing 2nd in a competitive gauntlet... where I was 8000+ points behind the winner!

Yeah but what I can't understand is why someone would do that...I mean there are infinitely better ways to use dilithium imo but again that's just me (someone that has ALL gauntlet crew to put this opinion into perspective). Continuing in my opinion, it's better buying 72 Dil single pulls than gauntlet refreshes....it's a carp shoot that guarantees nothing. At least with a single pull you are guaranteed something useful. Back when I did spend Dil on gauntlet (honestly yes I did it back when it was new and exciting) I had times when I'd revive my streak cause I had a matchup I should have won go bust...then on the next battle with the newly refreshed crew, had the same thing happen so basically 50 dill down the drain with nothing to show for it... Unless ya sink another 50 Dil, plus if you get higher into the loot boxes, the top tier boxes arent attainable by streak, and those boxes are the only ones that won't drop blue trainers. And then the fact that the top tier box, if ya are like most people, it just adds to your item cap (unless you are a newer player which again, much better ways to spend Dil). So top tier boxes will have either chrons (worth very little unless you are a new player and again, better ways), components (easy to get via chrons), unique items (that I would add, I've had a gold item needed but a different and useless gold item drop so....seriously not sure what's going on there, in any case if ya aren't a newer player adds to the item cap), or a rare crew (very extremely rare!!!) So all in all seems unless you are pushing hard for 20k, cause you don't have locutus and need him, it isn't worth it to me....but I'd really REALLY (!!!!) like to know why someone would spend to get a first place finish in the most casino-like part of the game with no real guarantee of good loot? This isn't a gauntlet rant (ok maybe it is) but an actual question.

You are preaching to the choir, my friend. There are a lot of bad dil-funded deals in this game, and gauntlet revives are, in my estimation, maybe the worst of them all because they can entrap even veteran players far more easily than buying credits or premium shuttle boosts.

All I can tell you is that those of us without Locutus need to go the extra mile to compete, he is completely unfair.

I did it for two reasons. To get to 20k rounds and in chasing Armus. But I didn’t surge, I came out of the gate swinging. I have had both for quite a while so I haven’t done it in some time but at the time it took 7 victories in a row to accomplish those feats. I was running on win streaks in the close to 200 range

Untill you own him....then it isn't unfair...anything is fair game eh 😂

Ego. Some people feel the need to win to show others how much better they are. They can't win events because they're not that good. So they pick something else, spend more than it's worth, and convince themselves it's very important. That way they can brag about beating everyone in "the most important part of the game."

That it shows nothing besides their ego and inability to value game resources is besides the point. They're the best and anyone that doesn't see it is a loser.
  • Bylo BandBylo Band ✭✭✭✭✭
I can prove Locutus is unfair, with math and everything. I've actually considered doing an entire thread on the subject!

The ironic thing is that I've received way more gauntlet crew after streaks of 3, 6 and 9, than I have from high final rankings (including a couple wins and many top-3) or streaks that regularly get over 30-40.

I get a lot more from final ranking in the top 10. And thats with plenty of long streaks too. So YMMV.

I got Guinan & Locutus of Borg in after Gauntlet boxes. Got the second 🌟 on my Guinan from the third win of a run. So, 66% or so Final Loot Boxes in my case. But, the very first Loot Box for winning just three Matches kinda confirms what I have seen many post before. 3, 6, or 9 Wins dropping more than long win streaks........

This probably won’t go over well or be agreed with by anyone, but it’s not actually that bad compared to some other non campaign things in the game.

You effectively can buy each 15+ streak box for 30-40 dil. Even if it took 200 boxes (600 streak) per gold that’s 6k-8k a gold. In that time you can also get a bunch of chrons and save even more chrons farming 2-4* items that drop.

That is essentially what I try to do, only the more frugal version of it (although Gauntlet is without question where most of my dilithium goes each week). I hit streak boxes relentlessly, I just have the worst RNG apparently.

I spend merits quite freely in the gauny. It replaces itself just as fast in the gauny. I never spend dil, though. Not even close to being worth it.

And I find it humorous that this thread is ragin’ about Rajin.
