Kits

Dumb Newbie question time: Are 'Kits' usable in conjunction with this week's Events? I've never used any yet so I really don't have a clue ... ;-)

If by this you mean the Supply Kits, then yes - they really can be used any time you would like to reduce the chron cost for running missions but are especially helpful during Skirmish and Galaxy events (full or hybrid). Each one lasts 24 hours and you can open multiple kits to extend that time.

    @Dirk Gunderson

OK then .... use them for the phase 2 Galaxy , but not for the phase 1 faction part? I've got 10,000 chronitions to burn off but still the same I just don't want to waste any if I don't have to. But I REALLY want to get my 2nd "PupCard"! (they are really a hot team!)

"waste not, want not" eh? LOL

Correct - unless you run missions during phase 1 to collect components for use in phase 2, there’s no reason to pop a kit early. That being said, most components used in previous Galaxy events should be used again this weekend. Someone posted this link:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/StarTrekTimelines/comments/9en4b9/skirmish_farming_guide_and_reference_sheet/

a while back primarily for knowing what missions to run during Skirmishes for the purpose of stocking up for Galaxy events. You can use this as a starting point to stockpile common components, or you can wait until you see the recipes on Saturday.

Thanks @Banjo1012 : I've got 12 'kits' stashed away so I could afford to burn off 4 of them but I also want to go on a wild and crazy 'Mission Frenzy' sometime in the next week or so to open up new supply routes I have been neglecting of late ... much to my regret! Decisions, decisions! LOL

    ???

I've never heard this. It's certainly not anything documented on the wiki.

Actually the Wiki is a little vague about 'supply kits' in general (actually more than vague) ... hence the original source of my question. I can see Banjo drawing that conclusion from a comment on the Wiki:

"If a player runs a Mission or Battle at Warp speed, they will receive Federation Training Programs as Bonus Rewards instead of the Bonus XP they would have normally received"

    https://stt.wiki/wiki/Supply_Kit

But does this apply to factions? My gut instinct says it should but then again maybe not LOL, of course, I think we could use a 'been there - done that' on this one ...

Here's what I know to be true: Supply Kits lower the chron cost of running missions (that's space battles and away missions done via the Galaxy Map). They also give you some extra stuff with each of those missions. They definitely give you XP for warping missions.

I have never heard anything about them having an effect on anything having to do with shuttles. I could be wrong, though — it's been known to happen once or twice. >:)

Au Contraire, mon Ami! <3 They only give you 'trainers' on warped missions ... you've got to actually fight a duel with sabers to the death to get XP.

actually, if I recall correctly, sabers only were used in the original series in a couple of episodes. Otherwise it was foils (rectangular) or epees (triangular). Picard usually employed a foil ... But you get the idea. LOL Sulu was using an epee with a 'bell guard' and a cheap plastic model at that none-the-less! lol

I only use them in Galaxy events and skirmish events. And when I do, I coordinate my use to allow me to use two over the four days. I have 40 sitting in my inventory. Mostly, I do minimum requirements each day and go wild in galaxy events. Recently I've been using them more since there really is no advantage to having 40 of them.

Captain XP, which raises your Captain level, is definitely awarded when you run a Supply Kit. I have gone up massively (often to the next Captain level) during Skirmish events and Galaxy events, because of all the space battles and missions I've run (warping every time, natch). And I never do those without running Supply Kits.

Maybe the base captain XP is awarded and not a bonus? I just know what the Wiki says ... doesn't mean it's true though. I guess I will have to play 'lab rat' this weekend and run one day with and one without if I get my 'PupCard' early enough.

This is a good enough place as any to post this.

I am finding this 'Faction' segment a real big snooze. Boring! I'm not getting any goodies I really need and absolutely no 'transmissions' being sent back to me either. If it wasn't for wanting to get 25,000 VP so as to get Picard and Number One I would probably just bag it and wait for Saturday's Galaxy segment. I think part of the problem is that I previously have done the Faction events just for fun and giggles, but now I am playing with a goal in mind. Sorta takes the enjoyment out of it.

But on the bright side: on my initial voyage today I did manage to score my first Groundskeeper Boothby. At first glance he just seemed a little so-so but BBoBA has him at Tier 5 and he has great MED which is something I always want. So, all-in-all, I think he's a good score for a 3* card and I'm happy. :)

Thanks. I do know that ... in fact that is where my 12 kits are lurking. At first I didn't know what to really do with them so I just left them to sit there. I do now though and will put them to good use over the next week or so.

Still 'grinding' through this Faction part. At least it gives me lots of time to update my spread sheets LOL Unfortunately the 'Pup-Card' is looking more and more unreachable ... I will be bummed. :/

@Cuttysark Keep at it! Don’t give up. And in case you didn’t know, right before the phase changes on Saturday, open all the missions for all the factions. As long as you open them before the galaxy part starts you will still get event points for them

I really want to thank everybody for all their help on this and on the 'Mega'.

Today was a really good day.

    1) Got my 2nd 'Pup-card'! Once I got my 1st one off the dang shuttle he was stuck on I was able fuse them and ...
    2) ... I never have done an Event with a Featured crew. Once I was able to use my 'Pup-card' during the Galaxy it was like taking candy from a baby! LOL Now I know why it is so attractive. :D
    3) I will have my four Mirror Burnhams also as soon as the 'community rewards' roll around to 600,000,000. I was iffy about it but as long as I will have a FF 4* card available I might as well go with the flow! ;)
    4) The 'kits' worked wonderfully! Thanks again to all!
4b) The kits do not give any bonus Captain level XP during 'warp'ed missions. Just the normal. My job as the lab rat is done! LOL
    5) Learned not to do anything with journeys or in the crew section (generally) during the play. Let the odd-ball new cards and equipment just stack up. ;) I can fuse those 'Burnhams' later today! :)

Now I am finished for this weekend ... nothing left to do since I don't care about the 'rankings' ... time for a cold brewski

    Until next week ...

Thanks @Banjo1012 ! If I can help other "newbies" in anyway by my posts I will love it! Too often we sorta get left behind in the dust of 'brag-fests' and 'peeing contests' when it comes to game forums. I have to say, though, that this is one of the nicest forums I've been involved in! (unlike FoE's) :) So far not a single big, nasty, ugly "troll" to be found! Which is a very pleasant surprise to say the least! :D:):)
