Am I the only one who has a problem with religious ads in Timelines

I thought the partnership with ironsource was scummy and the offer wall was bad. It goes well beyond that!
I just watched an ad to double a cadet offer, and this was what greeted me. Apparently TP isn't above taking money from the Christian lobby either:
Religious ads should have no place in the game, full stop. I'm also done watching ads and spending money with Timelines until they can better vet their ads and advertising partnerships.

They aren't trying to convert you or anything.

These days most of mine are government messages about covid, which is something of an improvement.
You're saying the Bible ISN'T religious? Quite frankly you're splitting hairs, and it doesn't take a Vulcan to point out the flaws in your "logic". The Bible is a religious text. Emphasis on the word "religious".
Not everyone believes in or follows Christianity. This ad could be construed as TP endorsing or supporting one particular religion over another.
If it had been a Koran app ad would you still argue that it wasn't religious? Or a book of Mormon ad? Or a Satantic Bible ad? You can't can't have your cake and eat it too. A Religious book by its definition is (drum roll) .. Religious.
Or is it only not considered religious when it's the holy book of YOUR religion being advertised?
Get a grip !
It's only my opinion but....
They seem to be all medical items that have no relation to me or ads for some guy getting burned alive trying to escape a shark, zombies, or the Wild West.
I don’t really care what they are as long as it’s not endorsing human trafficking or something of the ilk.
Does anyone know if the ads are actually ran by a third party a la offer wall?

Don't click on it. No one is making you click on it.
Besides, why would they allow STFC advertise here? That is competition. But they do.
a( Why are they crying?
B( Why are they quiet?
Lol, Daisy is doing much better with this litter though.
Dude, you make my day. Thank you so much for being a member of our community. I highly value your comments. Highly. 🖖
I'm not sure why people hold the ads here to a different standard than TV or radio. If they are age appropriate, we don't have to enjoy them. They serve a purpose. The game gets money from a fourth party, via a third party ad source and we get something for it, that is actually better than other media ads where you get nothing for enduring it. They pay, so we can play.
Really though, I'm dealing with home renovations, storm damage to the barn, raccoons in the chicken houses, and, better parenting aside, Daisy's a large litter with one having an injury (sprain or hairline fracture) to a back foot and another with some sort of neuro-muscular issue. Verbena's foot will heal, but the little guy holds his head sideways and has next to no balance. He barrel rolls around and around. He may outgrow the worst of it or he may need a brace/wheelchair and special accommodations for life.
Oh well, I've done this before. Narcolepsy/epilepsy, missing/damaged limbs, blind, inner ear issue, dwarfism, spinal injuries,... His father has a permanently crooked foot, his uncle a food allergy and loses his hair, and his grandfather has to eat kitten chow or he vomits. My gang is demanding, but worth it.
I play to relax for a bit. I don't really care who funds my Timelines habit, so long as it isn't a risk to me.
If you saw an ad for a local kindergarten would you think the people making the game were trying to support sending adults to kindergarten? If you saw an ad for pizza would you accuse them of trying to force you to eat pizza? If you don't like peanut butter does everyone who likes peanut butter have to be prevented from seeing ads that would be useful to them?
I'm not religious, and I don't care who is and who isn't. Thinking the game supports every ad is like thinking your favourite celebrity is trying to send you messages through the TV. It's insane.
That being said - if you don’t like an ad, flag it. If you’re having trouble doing that in the game, there’s a relevant topic in the Engineering Room (https://forum.disruptorbeam.com/stt/discussion/11478/ads-issues-concerns-post-here#latest) you can go to.
And this is the casually cruel dismissal of others and their concerns we have come to expect from conservatives. Why be better when you take such joy in being worse?
You're right that there is a decoupling between what is permitted and what is promoted, but wrong in thinking private platforms aren't free to discriminate in some ways.
I've no problem with a religious ad, I've also no problem if TP/WRG banned them - their gaff, their rules, and we've a right to pipe up about things, but not to expect them anything to be done about them so long as they're legal.
Personally I'm not offended by the ad, it's just for the Bible. Hardly the Catholic Church advertising itself as a NAMBLA safe space.
Huh? He's supporting inclusiveness, anticensorship, and the dangers of extreme thinking. He's trying to make sense of the nature of the concern, because the reaction seems a bit extreme. Would he objected to every other possible religious text the same way? I was a bit surprised by that level of reaction myself. Yes, I can be classed as conservative, but I wouldn't react like that to any other religious text, Pride blog, or several other traditionally liberal subjects. It's the core text, not even a commentary, just one of an absurd number of translations.
The Bible, in itself, is about as intrinsically the same as the Christian Lobby as the Quran is Al Queda. It is all about interpretation and you can get a million different takes on the same thing. They can be very far removed from what was initially intended. It reminds me of the story about a woman, who went back to college late in life. She failed an essay for an English class, because she "failed to understand the author's intentions" on an assigned short story, according to her professor. The student was the author of the short story assigned.
One religious ad out of tens of thousands is a very, very small thing. I get junk mail of the same vein about once a week. I tend to regard them the same as penis enhancement treatments and college girls wanting to meet me. They have cast a very wide net, but used bait that I'm not interested in. Someone might be, but not me. Ignore it and move on. We are a Ford family, but I don't refuse to drive down a road that has a Chevy dealership on it.
Be cool. ☮️
Not all ads will be too your liking, that is how these things work.
For ads that are really a problem, you should be able to report them via the ad itself or let us know in the thread that has been shared here. Thanks.
