Cannot select opponent in gauntlet

I go into gauntlet. Can see rank. But every time I try to do a battle the game is stuck hailing starfleet. I have to quit. And every time I get same response.
I am guessing that this is a known bug. That some one intentionally froze a crew in gauntlet or airlocked a crew in gauntlet. If this is the case, whenever it occurs no prizes should be rewarded at end of gauntlet. I believe this is being exploited not necessarily by the person in first place but by friends of that person.
