Does Auto Build use more resources than manually building each sub item?

When building an item that has sub items that must be built you have two options: use auto build, or manually build each sub item.

It can, depending on if you have some of he parts built and some of them in odd numbers.

the autobuild doesnt use more items, it uses the correct amount; but manually building uses less items then it should, not always but very often.

If you have to build a blue ID code fur example, it requires two greens (one on each side). If you build it manually, it will only take the left green ID code and leave the other in your inventory, and still build the blue ID code. This applies to any item that requires two identical build-items. However, if you need 2 items that are the same, butt both on the left, it will (almeowst always) consume both. There still is a chance to leave 1/2 of 2/2 behind though.
