Tactical Michael Burnham
in The Bridge
Dear DB, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!?! Tactical Michael Burnham is a ranked reward?!? What about all of us who don't get into the top 3,000?? What about all of us who don't pay to win or who don't spend our money on computer/mobile games??? What about all of us ST Discovery fans who fit both of those category's who WANT a version of Discovery's main character??
I am very disappointed in all of you at DB. I WANT A MICHAEL BURNHAM. WITHOUT HAVING TO PAY FOR HER!!!! Please listen and change her to the top threshold. I guarantee you I am not the only one who believes this.
-sincerely, The Collective

Threshold in faction is maxed at 3/4 by DBs choice and design. Makes a lot more sense to go back to the existing as threshold to give more folks a chance to ff an existing and some a change to FF the new.
And incidentally Im wagering there will be more than a few F2P who get ranked high enough to get Mikey B.
Time to learn how to improve your crew so you can start doing better in factions. This may include immortalizing more crew members so you can get FREE dilithium for more shuttles.
Hmmyeah, but that's probably the people who spend money anyway. Ranking in the top 1500 is the sign that you have done some spending (either moderate spending during the event, or significant spending previously to build a solid crew).
It's a bit like giving five copies of the Legendary crew to the top-ranking player. It's nice, but you know they had that legendary crew FF/FE at the beginning of the event anyway. I agree with what you're saying, but it's not a very far-reaching argument.
That said, it's feasible for a f2p player to rank in the top 2500 and get two copies of Burnham without spending money. It isn't like Galaxy events, where f2p players can get in the top 200 places, but still.
Acutually I know of a VIP0 that ranks consistently above 1500 in factions that they try for, due to them being around long enough to build crew and now with achievements using that dil for shuttles.
Being a VIP0 takes time to build. Games been around for a year and three quarters. Time for some folks to train up some awesome crews even with F2P.
Just cause you haven't gotten there yet doesn't mean it isn't possible.
I see your point but the collective doesn't take into consideration those who have spent to FF the characters from previous time the event ran who will be in the top 1k. I welcome having to get a freebie for once good job DB.
There's still always the option of buying packs or waiting till there's a rerun and she's in the ranked rewards you don't have to get her this weekend if I've learned anything playing stt it's wait especially after the best chance Lore packs you will get a Burnham FF maybe not this weekend but soon™
I don't care about the people who get her. I am talking about all us who can't get her without spending money.

I was surprised she wasn't ranked, but it also meant I didn't need to buy a pack this week to FF her. Happy Days!

Half hour? I'd bet the first to max on her was less than 10. Gotta be stocked and fast these days... cept when you discover surprises like the Duras Sisters.
The reason for running events isn't to give people free stuff. It's to create an incentive to spend. Funny though, usually the complaints are about only rewarding 3 copies of a threshold reward.
I want to see the new IT movie I don't care who has seen it. I want to watch it for free
I personally am excited she is the ranked reward. I'll get her FF without buying packs. Usually DB puts the new crew at threshold for factions so people have to buy more packs.
Ok now I need some ibuprofen to combat the flashback headache from the 'culture of waste' folks.
Yup yup yup..
"The culture of waste" line that only really should have been applied to purchases of premium 10x got muddled into the event reward system.. so instead of an event of opportunities for anyone who even tried, it became a cut throat , double reward, speed up crew slot use Juggernaut.
Not to say there weren't improvements when that happened (accumulated rewards namely)
But it did help create this scenario.
I'm grateful for new bring ranked in an event with a true 5* rerun.
And that is coming from someone who has every Kira, except hook... Umm disguised Kira.
Having rerun in threshold and top 5* ranked plus new 4 ranked is the best. I hope they just cycle through all the 5* s like this.. use this formula for a while.
... And I look forward to DBs potential reward overhaul that was mentioned in the Halloween QA
A battle arena style reward system has the potential to be the best and most rewarding to customers yet, while still incentivizing for players to buy premium in advance to rank and preform higher.
Hey, it could be worse..
Could be all new characters.
Thank you DB for a true rerun.
Top 1500 is not a sign that you have spent. If you have 4 shuttles, you can easily rank in the top 1000 in a faction event. In addition, a few of my VIP 0's consistently rank top 500 and if they have good bonus crew, top 200.
However, that being said, I understand your frustration. As Pallidyne stated above, being VIP 0 takes time. What may seem impossible right now can easily be a reality for you with the time and patience it takes to build up your crew and your resources. Hang in there!

I do not know what you crew makeup is but if you are willing to grind the 2nd* best way to get in the top 3000 is to make sure you are sending your shuttles out every 3 hours no matter what. Ignore the failures. Just send them. You will settle into a decent success rate and should be able to make top 3000.
*The best way being to have strong crew
So, I'll get 3 copies of Reed, who is likely to drop in a voyage or pack, so saving me a citation, but I might only get one copy of Burnham (who I really want) and she's gonna need 3 citations because she won't appear in voyages or the portal for some time. I'd prefer Burnham to be threshold myself.

Sadly, STT is a game where you're clearly in for the long haul, and expects you to set yourself a good base and then work from it. It takes a long time - months - to get there, but once you do, you rank consistently. This is the way the game is made to be, and the way it is meant to be played as an F2P. I, personally, wish I didn't think the same way (ergo, pay to win) when I started my route to VIP14, because, had I been aware of the small tricks you can use to keep your active crew under the 100 mark, and the direction this game is going, I would have remained anywhere from VIP0 to 5 at most until now.
I thought the same thing back in March of this year.... some helpful people like Frank counselled me patience and getting the 4 shuttles and here I am hitting almost all faction 1000's that I go out for.
I've also got next to no timer boosts left, I went through over 100 of them in Gates of Hell
That's half the equation. Patience building up crew is the other piece that balances it all out. Got almost every possible bonus crew FEd and all the 4s FFed... Having very very few fails and I'm in the top 500 right now and only used 10 3star time boosts. I'll be using skill boosts the rest of the event.
I think I'd been playing 5 months or so before I got in top 1000 on a faction and a now at the year mark making it fairly consistently,

I was able to BARELY get two Stars to add to mine, but knew that was going to be about my limit in a Faction Event. Still, would have been nice to have a 2* Michael, and Reed have stayed 1*, for me........

Sounds like you are overusing them. I use only 14 time boost in each event. Sometimes 18 but never more. I finished 136. You don't have to lose sleep. Use the overnight boost. During the day be diligent about checking in every 3 hours. Its way cheaper than boosting and has a much greater effect on your ranking.
