I'm not even sure if more than 4 is possible, but I know a lot of people have 4.

I still have only 3.

3rd costs 750 dilithium. 4th costs 2500 dil.

Ya 4th is not cheap. But will pay for itself in time. Use to be the best way to get trainers. Not sure with voyages that the 4th shuttle would be needed for trainers anymore. However, with faction events should lead to better finish rank.

Currently four is the max.

Buying the 3rd and 4th shuttle is the best one off investment you can make in the game.

Four shuttles pay for itself daily helping to honour factions and giving you 4 chances to farm hard to get Faction items aswell as making just 2 turnarounds to complete daily achievement not to mention help you in Faction events.

Starting off you'll see slow progress in Faction events until you have strong enough crew to fill them but as each event passes you'll set a new personal best and can see your rankings improve from week to week

Get a monthly card, collect it every day for a month and don't spend dil on anything else. Voila! New shuttle for $4.

Don't worry about spending when it comes to fleet regarding ranking it means little and is forgotten on a Tuesday. Being active and hitting your Dailies for starbase is better and can be achieved F2P of you do buy Dilithium do so at your pace and what benefits you at one point you'll have strong enough crew where spending small amounts of Dilithium on voyages has better rewards v portal packs

I need to crack down and start keeping my resolve. Every time I refresh the Card, I say to myself "This time I am going to let it bank for the month, instead of spending it as I go."

Then, along comes something that distracts my resolve, like being out of Crew Slots, or a really nice set of Event Crew, that I go for a Ten Pack to get one guaranteed. Instead of a money manager, like some people have, I need a Dilithium manager......

I would recommend a 4th shuttle to everyone. It helps with faction farming and event placement. Even if your crew isn't large enough to fly 4 shuttles in the event, fly as many as you can with a good chance of event success and fly the others on regular crew levelling missions.

Four is max. It is definitely worth the cost. You can buy a monthly card and save for 25 days then buy it.

THAT SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE ME! So one day i said to myself "ugh...just go buy 20 dollars in dilithium and get the last shuttle for crying out loud!"
