Greetings, Captains,
Our latest client, v8.0.0 is now live on Facebook and Steam. It will be rolled out to Windows and Google Play in the coming days. The iOS release is scheduled for next week, followed by a release on our other android platforms (Amazon, Huawei, and Samsung).
A reminder: for our Android release the minimum operating system requirement was raised from 4.1 to 4.4. Devices on android 4.1 will no longer be able to run the game.
Now off to the juicy parts!
With this update we’ll be introducing a brand new feature to the game, Crew Retrieval!
This feature will provide you with the means to have more agency to target the specific crew that you want, and add them to your roster, something that has been long requested.
This new game mechanic required a lot of careful considerations (such as a crew trait audit for instance, see our separate communication on that subject), it touches several existing game systems, and as a result will need to be released in multiple phases.
We understand that you want more details, this will be provided on Wednesday, February 3.
On that date you can expect a high level introduction to Crew Retrieval and related changes, as well as a detailed roll out plan explaining each release phase. This will be done via forum posts and in-game mails, but that’s not all!
Our very own WRG Ben will showcase Crew Retrieval on the Timelines Talks stream on Wednesday, February 3 at 3:30 pm ET (20:30 UTC)! Don’t miss this opportunity to have a first look at this exciting new feature!

During the stream, Ben’s main focus will be to present Crew Retrieval, he won’t have the opportunity to answer questions about the new feature.
We understand that you’ll have questions however and we’ll welcome them in a dedicated forum discussion that will be created on February 3!
What can you expect once you upgrade to 8.0.0?
Some of the changes adjacent to the Crew Retrieval feature will be visible immediately upon updating:
- Main Interface - Manifest Icon
Next to Daily Missions, the new Manifest icon replaces the Crew icon and will be the new home for accessing your Crew, Ships, Inventory, Cryostasis Vault, and later on, Crew Retrieval.
- Crew Details
Knowing the final stats of a crew (FF/FE and 1/X FE level 100) plays an important role in making crew management decisions, but that critical information was not displayed in-game.
This will no longer be the case, we’re happy to announce that this quality of life improvement is part of our 8.0.0 update!
The new Crew Details Pop-Up panel will be present throughout many areas of the game, giving you the ability to look at a crew’s description, traits, stats and ship abilities.
We’ve been hard at work on this client for the past several months, and can’t wait to deliver the results to you all.
