I do find it a bit laughable that some obvious editorialization-through-moderation is being framed as protecting the OP's original intent. Most if not all of the removed comments were harmless, non-vulgar, fun, and cathartic. The only thing you accomplish with your "red pen" is stirring people up again.
If the OP were truly upset by the way some of us participated, they would've said so.
P.S. OP included an "Other" option--which means it's ALL on topic.
I did indeed remove comments as they were not on topic but also inappropriate.
As I've said many times, there will always be some allowances made for venting, but there are limits.
This was also a nice initiative from the OP and it does not deserve to get derailed.
Parody and mockery are as on topic as they are appropriate in a society that values free speech.
Many of the posts might have been a little mean spirited towards the people you work for, but so were they funny and voiced what many in the community felt. There is nothing inappropriate about that.
I see I failed to post a message after having cleaned this thread up, I am sorry.

Since the OP has stated that he wouldn't mind if the allegedly off-topic posts had remained, I think you need to come up with a new excuse.
Just admit that TP got their fragile corporate ego bruised and move on.
I spoke up after the fact. I said I don't care if the posts remain or are removed. I'm kind of happy to know that this idea is on TP's radar and Shan satisfied my curiosity regarding the edits.
As to future posts, let's just try to be kind. Thank you Shan for letting us know why the edits were made. Thank you to all the players who posted stuff, serious or joking (but not so much the mean-spirited stuff). Hopefully TP changes up the splash screen when they have a better handle on all their updates, from crew retrieval, to the new reward structure, to the campaign changes.

Got more of an apology for deleted posts than we did for overreacting and banning a huge swath of the playerbase for their own mistake. That speaks volumes.

Management after giving players the bird and having the players flip it back at them...
Because everybody knows that a corporate tantrum is the perfect way to repair a critically damaged relationship with your customers.

You're right, it doesn't deserve to be derailed. So please be careful with the 'ban button' in future.
