Purchasing choice

Hailing Starfleet,
In playing the game every day I constantly review the "offers" available for purchase through the time portal and I read the typical sort of "offer", "Buy ten guarantees one [something or other]" - I am left wondering...
If you walk into a store with say $100 dollars to spend you can browse available items in the store and you can choose individual items that you want to purchase. In STT I could take $1000 from an account, drop it into the game and still not come away with the characters I want to add to my crew roster.

I am, and have been since starting playing, progressing through the ranks; and upgrading things, based solely on effort, determination, playing skill and taking advantage of the regular "freebies" that drop in the Time Portal.

Wouldn't it make more sense to have an open store where you can purchase individuals or required items to suit your aims and goals rather than dropping money on a "chance" that you might get one item out of ten that you actually want?

Live long and prosper,

  • That would give a massive advantage to anyone with deep pockets willing to throw money at the game and they already have enough of an advantage as it is.

An interesting argument, though I'm not sure I agree. The event crew are already offered in guaranteed purchases. I suppose it would depend on how "open" this hypothetical store would be. If it offered legendaries who were bonus crew that week for $10 each, that would be broken. If it offered one copy of Tuesday pack legendaries for $50, then I couldn't see that being a noticeable impact on game balance.

  • Greetings Captains,
Thanks for your input. I appreciate your points, I merely offered this in this particular "feedback" forum as a suggestion for a way to examine how the game might be improved to attract more players to involve themselves more.

Yes, the example of "walking into a store with a hundred dollars in your pocket" was, I admit, a somewhat crude analogy but used to simply demonstrate a point that might be looked at by the devs at some time.

Would it give an unfair advantage to "deep pocket players"? Unless it was properly organised it could but only if it were offered as an "open slather" store. A "limited opportunity store" might be more appropriate, no?
    Cheers,
