After a little research I am pleased to report that you are not cruel.

Based on my findings, Kol died in 2256 (by our calendar) and the events from the TOS episode 'Trouble With Tribbles' that lead the Klingons to hate Tribbles took place in 2268, so as far as Kol is concerned that was just a large furball with Command skills.
