Here's an idea to bring back the equipment caches (which I really miss) and do something fun with spare ship schematics (which currently exist as a definite "not fun" part of the game.)

How about Neelix sets up a bartering system where he facilitates trading old, outdated ship schematics for equipment caches provided by the Delta Quadrant traders? (Both silver and gold caches -- higher chance of gold for higher level schematics).

Neelix could hang out in the inventory menu, just in case you want to swap schematics instead of burning them in the replicator.

    I'd also be happy if you could simply sell the schematics for credits. But that wouldn't be quite as much fun as opening a cache.
