Fleet Boss Battles Upcoming fix and some updates - 2022-07-22

Greetings, Captains,
We are continuing to monitor how Fleet Boss Battles are performing, while also going through all the valuable feedback you’ve been providing.
As part of these efforts we’ve identified that the logic behind unlocking a node is not working as it should.
How it’s currently working:
- a node can be unlocked by using multiple crew who each have one of the required traits to unlock the node.
How it should be working:
- a node can only be unlocked by using 1 crew having the correct set of required traits.
We plan to roll out a fix for this as early as next week, with our server release.
While this feature is in beta we understand that issues like these are never a pleasant experience.
We appreciate how engaged you are with this new feature and are very grateful for all the suggestions we’ve received so far.
With that in mind we have prepared a Fleet Boss Battles Appreciation pack, it’ll contain 10x Valor and 2000 Merits. This pack will be available to all in the Time Portal on Tuesday July 26, we do not have an exact timing at this time. Stay tuned!
We also want to give you some insights into what we are working on next for our next client update, v9.1.0.
Please keep in mind that, as is always the case in game development, this could be subject to change.
Fleet Boss Battles Bug Fixes
- Bridge Bonuses: ‘Damage taken by Boss’ will be renamed to ‘Defense Against Boss’, which is consistent with the nature of the bonus, and how it is displayed.
- Crash/freeze during a battle.
- Addressing interface issues on some devices, such as the inability to close the Bridge or to access the Crew Retrieval tab in the Manifest.
- A Battle will not be able to be started without any crew assigned
- Battle result screen will now appear for all players having participated in a battle, whether they are eligible for rewards or not.
Feature Additions
- Crew Select: ability to see frozen crew and to unfreeze them.
- Combo: will display the crew that was used to unlock the node.
- Combo: the nodes and list of traits will remain visible to players having already discovered a node enabling them to advise their fleet members.
- Combo Unlock Buffs: this will be our first step towards making the completion of nodes and combos more valuable for individuals and fleets.
Completing a combo will grant each fleet member with a same temporary buff to a ship stat, and this for the remainder of the boss battle. The effectiveness of the buff given will be rolled and will be random based on specific parameters.
The possible buffs and effectiveness ranges are as follows (ranges may be changed based off of testing results):
Increase Attack: 5% - 15%
Increase Attack Speed: 5% - 15%
Increase Crit Rating: 300 - 1000
Increase Crit Bonus: 3000 - 10000
Reduce damage taken from boss: 2% - 10%
Reflect part of damage taken from the boss: 5% - 13%
Reduce all cooldowns: 1 second
There will also be a chance to receive one of these buffs with a bonus multiplier attached of X2 or even X3!
This will make each boss battle run different from your previous run, and we are hoping that receiving a buff will encourage you to experiment with ship and crew loadout to do the most damage possible. This system will also help players do more damage.
- Buff Re-Roll: If you don’t like the buff you received as a reward for your fleet completing a combo, then you will have the option to re-roll your buff for a small dilithium cost. (this will only change the buff for the individual doing the re-roll and will not affect the whole fleet) The cost of a re-roll will increase with each re-roll, starting at 15 dilithium and up to 50 dilithium(cost amount may change based on testing results). Re-rolling your buff will generate a new buff and efficiency. By completing multiple combos you will stack multiple buffs. Re-rolling your buffs will be a great way to optimize your buffs and to create powerful synergies between them.
WRGBen-In a playtest I received multiple buffs that increased my attack speed and attack damage, this caused me to alter my crew and ship loadout which was extremely satisfying as I climbed the fleet damage leaderboards.
Further in the Future of Fleet Boss Battles
Although these will not be included in 9.1.0, we are planning them for a future update (Release date TBD):
- Additional rewards for players unlocking node(s).
- Combo generation : exclusion of traits not accessible in the game. This is something that we wanted to be able to include with 9.1.0 but due to the nature of the task, it will require more time to implement.
- Making it easier to freeze crew that was assigned to fleet boss battles.
- The ability to see all future Captains' Bridge level rewards.
- Fleet Boss Battles Season 2 content (New Bridge, Boss, exclusive crew and ship rewards)
As we get closer to releasing 9.1.0 keep your eyes open on our Youtube Channel as WRGBen will do a livestream showcasing the changes and additions to Fleet Boss Battles.
