Please Cut The "Double Your Crew" Offer Cooldown

JhamelJhamel ✭✭✭✭✭
Greetings :)

In the best interest of making more profit (and in this case I support it) from paying customers, get rid of that 72 hour cooldown from the "Double Your Crew" offer. That's one of the few offers in-game which actually are useful in some cases. I don't want to double an immortalized crew that I got from a Be-Gold. However, if there's another one a few hours later, I'd like to double that one instead ... but if there's a cooldown, how can I? You don't want the money? ^^

  • From a profit motive, I have wondered why there is a cool down period as well? I wonder if they might make more money limiting that option (and making people level the traditional way and use honor)? Or, could they make more money cutting that cool down period? I do not have DB’s data, so I couldn’t answer it. It would be nice to know though...

  • I wonder if the "bug" is still there or not. There was discussion about this and the thread was deleted?

I don't know about another thread with a discussion about the DYC offer cooldown.

  • There was... about a bug... not the cool down period... not sure if they really did any action to the ppl that abusing the bug.
  • JhamelJhamel ✭✭✭✭✭
Oh yes, the bug I heard about, butt this is only and alone about the cooldown.

  • Makes me wonder who came up with the idea of a cool down period for said offer and how did they manage to get it passed. Surely it would be more profitable for DB to do away with such things and let those of us who wish to spend money, spend it without having to wait.

It would also give us free choice of whom to double and level to 60 without having to "plan ahead" with opening portal pulls, especially when there's an event gold crew I'd like to double.

The cool down was a bad solution to fix a bug where another double offer would spawn after taking the double, essentially meaning you could get a crew to 5/5* for 100$.

I'm not sure who has that kind of money to spend on one character, but evidently DB thought its was unreasonable for players to get a 5* for 100$.

I do support a shorter cool down though, maybe 12 or 24hrs.

I could live with 24 hours, but not with 72 hours. ^^

  • Indeed a shorter cool down, but absolutely an option to decline it outright should be available. Such as you have a 4/5 and get number 5 in a drop, if you take it there goes the 72 hour clock again.
  • PallidynePallidyne ✭✭✭✭✭
    12-24 hours would be ideal.
  • JhamelJhamel ✭✭✭✭✭
Yes, if you decline, the cooldown would not start and you could save up the DYS for someone else. Exactly!

I'm starting to wonder how many of these threads it will take before DB actually responds or does something about it.
I can't even find any actual acknowledgement from DB on here or the old forums that the cooldown is 72 hours. (That came from trial and error form the player base)

Found a post on the old forum:

Now to clarify a few points:
    - getting a double offer is not guaranteed
    - the current cooldown is 72 hours, this could change at some point, and it does not mean that after 72 hours you will automatically get a double offer
    - whether or not an offer is triggered is NOT something CS can control
    - CS can also NOT do anything about the cooldown

I have brought this thread up with the CS lead to help prevent inconsistencies in replies.

Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing.

Good catch. I must admit I didn't run across that in my travels.

Maybe there is hope of addressing this as an actual issue.

So my other gripe.... ".... is not guaranteed". Feels like thats just a CYA for when it doesn't work.

Well, if it's relevant, I didn't see a double up offer at all for my first several months of playing, despite having gotten CD Quark and at least one or two other Legendaries in that time (never much of a record-keeper, so I can't tell you how many there were).

There was a time earlier this year it was broken. It wasn't triggering for anyone. I created a CS ticket, they eventually found the problem said 'thanks' and closed the ticket, and it's triggered for me every time since.

That's why I say its more a CYA, so they don't have to compensate or do any retroactive action when it does not work.

I still think it would not only benefit us players who want the DYC's on our preferred gold crew, but also it would benefit DB as it would give them more income. It's a classic win-win situation.

  • Yes, reduce it. But also give the option to decline it in the event you receive a behold pull you don't want to use it on.

Yep I agree here! Would be nice to stop them popping up every-time I log in as well as its just plain annoying!

  • Agreed !
Just wanted to lend my voice in support of eliminating or dramatically reducing the cool down period between "Double your crew" offers.
Let your players give you all the cash they're willing to part with, DB !
How is this not a good idea ?

You know ... purrhaps they don't want it because you could baysickly (or sickbayly ... whatever) get a 5/5 with "just" buying the 2x and 1x offer in the event and use the DYC twice within a day or so, not depending on the RNG given in the ten (or fifteen) free packs that come with the offer. I think they want the player to at least either score Top 1000 or get one 5* event character drop out of the event packs.

I disagree. I believe that they simply want you to buy more packs to get the character FF and that it on the average will cost more than the $25 for the last star.
  • JhamelJhamel ✭✭✭✭✭
Or that, yes. Either way, there is a reason or they'd have lifted the cooldown long ago.

  • If they put a cool down on it, you probably will buy more packs for dilithium.
  • PallidynePallidyne ✭✭✭✭✭
Thing is I really think that more people would buy the 25 than buy more packs. I personally think it would net them more money in the end, but I don't have the analytics to prove it.

    Its still damn annoying.
