Continuum Missions Questions

Apologies if there is an existing thread for this, couldn't obviously see one.
After watching the walkthrough vid, I noticed that there are options to unlock up to 5 chroniton containers for dilithium.
However, it was also mentioned that the missions would work on a weekly reset.
Can you please clarify whether if the 4th/5th containers are unlocked with dilithium, then they are permanently unlocked or will this also reset back to 3 at the start of the weekly cycle?

I do not remember Ben specifying. Hopefully, since it costs Dilithium, it will be like the extra Shuttles.
I seemed to recall it being mentioned as a once off cost.
I'm curious about this too - same for crew on shuttles I imagine. I suppose if the continuum missions are only generated weekly then once you've seen it at the start of the week you can plan out what crew aren't available for voyages/shuttles for that week.
Except now those temporary boosts are only useful for continuum missions. Even if technically they apply elsewhere you won't be using those crew for shuttles/voyages because that will lock them out of continuum missions.
Maybe we're talking past each other here? I agree it seems you'd have to pick where you want your quipped crew because they'll be effectively dedicated to continuum mission, voyage, or event.
Yeah. Limiting how many active Crew we can have, while requiring more active Crew for another task, is kind of irritating.
I guess I am just knowing seeing what the appeal is. Am I missing something?
There is quipment that adds proficiency so it could help on gauntlet. But everything is temporary. So yes, the appeal is limited. There are the rewards for completing everything. But I feel like it's missing the permanent boosts or unique crew that made FBB appealing initially.
One solution is to time it once a day or so, when your voyage and shuttles are back, and you have some free time.
The other is that the best voyage crew won't necessarily be the best continuum crew. I can see some single or duel skill crew being very useful here. Demo Man Scotty, Technician Uhura, Dr. 'Bones' McCoy, Captain Tribble. The third skill on three skill crew will not be worth much. Ideal voyage crew and continuum will be different.
The only issue is that you will need to use the crew that you want to unlock slots for, but this will initially be your continuum crew.
I can see event crew might be a priority as well, but they might just be a couple an event.
Now seems like the time to buy Captain Tribble.
That is, unless there are trait locked nodes, which I have not seen yet.
It's supposed to only reset once a week. But this release has been super buggy. Whether the reset was intentional on their part to fix bugs or just another bug who knows.
I still sort of like the idea despite all the resources that I have lost due to being locked out of the game and the numerous bugs. I have made it almost to the the last one on Elite, I stuck on ENG on the 3rd mission for now. I need to open up another slot for Scotty.
I don't expect to be able to do the epics on the first one... I am just going to work on opening up more guys with the free containers and shoot for a better go at it next time.
I am assuming once you unlock a boost slot on a guy that they stay open?
I believe so. Expecting players to re-level crew every week will be too much.
One other suggestion, instead of working on opening up the first two slots on more crew, focus on getting 3 slots open for your best crew for each skill. By the end of epic you will need 3 quipment to crit the node. So you want to have those slots available before you start using qp on other crew and end up stuck with 2-3 crew who all cant clear epic.
Yes, working on my best guys is the plan esp. since we don't know what traits we will need for the next round. I used cartoon Tom Paris for his hero trait this time but I do have better command guys. I didn't use my McCoy at all and he need to be opened up too. I suppose that we will all get there in time
As I suggested in another thread, the unlocking requirement just adds so much extra complexity and weight to this feature. It really feels like jumping through 10 hoops for peanuts, and I don't understand what it adds other than frustrating complexity.
This feature would be ok if we could 1) Actually use the crew that we are leveling by allowing them to be available for shuttles/voyages 2) Not have to run around trying to guess what crew to use.
example: I get to mission 4 clearing normal easily. I come back around to elite and find that in order to clear it, I need to use Picard and number one for Sci Pri/trait matches. Expect he's been frozen, so I unfreeze him, except i Still need to add a 250 boost to crit the node. I can't apply to the boost because the slots not available. So now I need to start running missions with him on the side, not contributing since the only reason I used him was for the trait match on one node. Then I can clear elite, but now for epic, I need another piece of quipment, but Picard is locked, so now, I am supposed to put him on another 4 missions to unlock another slot to then spend gear to build more quipment to put on him in the slot to clear ONE NODE. Oh, this whole time I can't even use the boost on shuttles/voyages since he would be locked out of continuum missions. How is this good design?
As I Implied above, for normal, Tribble Captain is better for command than any other crew with one matching trait.
The same for Demo Man Scotty, and Dr 'Bones' McCoy for their respective skills.
The voyage lock is really aggravating. I think it was copied from normal missions. But for elderly players, when we were training crew by running missions, voyages didn't even exist. So this balance really needs to be reworked.
FBB did a decent job of refurbishing an old game element(ship battles). It’s a decent way to farm honour and has some good crew rewards. It’s not flawless but can be interesting sometimes.
Now it’s time to add a fresh coat of paint to Away Missions. So far it’s a miss. At minimum you need to be able add Quipment within the Continuum interface itself. It’s also cluttered without being informative.
Once I get some crew decently levelled I’ll probably farm the Quantum every week but it’s just some button pushing. FBB at least triggers the snake brain every time you hit 50M damage or you see a bonkers combo chain (not an original feature but made it funner).
