The Monotony of 3* Crew

I believe there are 60 something 3* crew with none added in over 4 years, but there have been some 2* crew introduced since then. Like 1* and 2* crew, they offer no value in game play except maybe in faction events sending a lot extra shuttles simultaneously or the honor received when dismissed or having to fuse and level up in an event. Without the 3* pool growing, these same crew keep popping over and over again when opening most packs except Basic Reward and Merit Rewards when they pop up just occasionally. I would have to think except for people that are just starting, they are essentially just scraps of honor.

I believe WRG said there is little interest on their part to add more 1-3* crew given their limited resources to work on the artwork and such. In the effort to break up the repetition of getting these same 60 something crew over and over again, how about

1) Create new 3* crew (1-2x per month) of minor or background characters not already in the game. Make them non-retrievable in the portal. Give the collectors a bit of incentive to buy packs. People can finally get their Ensign Colt, Ensign Gates, Mr Leslie, Ensign Billy, Mr Valtane, Dr Boyce, etc. Go to IMDB and there are lot of minor characters with double digit appearances in their series to choose or a notable actor's appearance like Christian Slater in ST VI
2) Create Astronomical Bodies (there have been over 1000 planets and moons that were featured/mentioned in the series) that fall at the same rate as 3* crew or make 3* beholds that would include these astronomical bodies in addition to 3* crew. This would be a new feature that would require minimal artwork resources. Constructing them would be more along the lines of shards or building ships instead of just 3 pulls to complete them. Make them a a destination a player can choose in Voyages and crew for that planet or moon would get a minor boost.

Something different to break up the pack monotony.

    The cost in terms of staff time to create crew is the same regardless of if they're a major or minor character or a planet.

    When they've tried adding 1-3* in packs previously they didn't sell. Making them movie characters is not going to change that.

    So for the same cost as a 4*/5* with lower revenue, why would the company create a 1-3* crew?

    How will that generate any extra revenue vs existing 1-3* crew? What is the business case to convince TP to invest in those new crew vs a new crew for a Tuesday pack or an event?

    It won't but it would be a nice way for them to add 1, 2 or 3* crew to the game just to change up the mega rewards.
