The ship is "The USS Cayuga" not "the Cayuga ship".
"The Cayuga" could work, but only really if it had been referred to as "The USS Cayuga" previously.
Saying "the Cayuga ship" implies the ship belongs to a group called Cayuga.
Capitalising "The" is optional, but it's the way I was taught.
"Ship Strapnel" should probably be "Ship Shrapnel" with an "h".
