Event Participation and What 3000+ Chrons Gets You

I usually play throughout the event but with the holidays I am only playing today.

gnn5qn0igk7d.png

Started at 56241 with 2959 chrons.

Supply kit
Ff/fe m sato
Ff/fe dax odo
Ff/fe 1701 and princess dax
Calculated lowest chrons to finish each mission.

I would guess about per 30 to finish. 40 for One step and Win them so I didn’t run those 2 missions.

Here is threshold rankm920dwrhtpzx.png

I finished here.

My thoughts?
There are about 56000 participating. That’s less than I thought.
I expected a higher rank after all that. Makes me wonder if 1) I screwed up or 2) first half had lower chron cost?
It took a couple hrs with a break so not that bad. Way more than faction.

I have finished around 1000 for the last 6 months. I’m not sure if it was worth it this time and I’m clearly not even close to my usual rank.

The problem with any of these discussion is you can't measure Galaxy performance just based on saved chrons. Your items going in plays a large part in your success. I could place under 1k in a galaxy event without spending a single chroniton if I prefarmed well and had plenty of each item ready to be used.

On the other hand, if I entered an event with 0 quantity for everything, it would likely take more than 3k chrons to even clear the threshold rewards. So without knowing what your equipment looked like it's hard to compare your 3k chrons to anything.

Thank you for this post Ace! I’m sitting on 42,000 waiting for an event with a legendary I want. I’m going for the win when that happens

Thats very true. I would say that i have the average amount of items for someone who does not farm and plays galaxy events every time to about the 1000 rank. There should not be that much variation for saved items unless someone doesn't play galaxy for weeks or farms.

I could also easily include the items i needed. Most galaxy events are the same, I will have hundreds of some of the needed items and <20 of the most common galaxy items.

    Quick list:
    Data Panel 1*
    Sensor
    toolbox 1*
    casing
    casing 1*
    phaser 1*
    phaser
    dampener
    interlink 1*
    fur
    cloth 1*
    expansion module
    iso chip1*
    desktop

all of these i started with <20 and these were the only items i needed the entire time
  • I have spent well over 3000 chrons and I'm over 1000 ranks below you. Depends totally on what you have in your inventory. My best rank was 421 and I spent less to get there, because I hadn't fully participated in a galaxy event for months.

Did you have odo dax and sato ff/fe?

    Supply kit?

Did you run the lower chron missions?

I agree that it depends on several different factors. This was just some data for fun because I never play events like this.

  • This is a very welcome observation, and something players need to consider. Let's face it, we're not just in for winning, but also for immortalizing and improving our crew :) Anyone who gets invested heavily in the long term, will start immortalizing their crew and it is then when some tough questions need to be asked... And all of them are chroniton-based :) Do good in galaxy, lose on immortals. Immortalize, and people overtake you like a fast train speeding past a little village's train station :)
  • I leveled Dax and Sato before the event, but I do not have the dil/dollar/honor to fully fuse them. Sato is now fffe, but Dax is 1* still. No Reed or Picard at any decent level. And I have run two supply kits so far. A third to come.

The participation rate seems stronger at higher levels than usual, I'm dropping more places overnight than I'm used to. However, I actually have better crew than usual so my super rare turn-ins stacked more quickly than I'm used to too.

So yeah, there's a lot of variables. Tbh I usually aim for 3000 chronos + whatever I gather during gameplay over the weekend.

I started in the second phase (minus the 10 VP to qualify for the community reward) and I am currently at about rank 2000 with 223k VP. I had an FE 1/5 Mirror Reed, FE 2/4 Mirror Sato, FF/FE Princess Jadzia, and FE 1/5 Honey Bare Jadzia (used for 1 mission where she gets Desperate and Trill and beats Princess Jadzia). I worked my way up to get Mirror Picard and maxed him (so FE 1/5) and snagged 2 Satos from thresholds to get her FF.

After I finished leveling Picard, I popped a supply kit and 1k chrons. I also got a voyage, plus a few chrons from other sources. I'd say I spent about 1.5k chrons to get 200k points (from Picard to when all of those chrons ran out). I would say the main difference would be having Mirror Reed. Pretty much any Sec mission he had between 60 and 90%, depending if it was an AND one and if he had one or both traits. The highest that FE/FF Sato would give me was about 60, and Picard would boost a couple into the 60s or so. The two missions you avoided (Win Them Over and One Step Ahead) were also ones I avoided. For at least one of the items, FE/FF Mirror Jennifer Sisko was the best I had.

I had about 3k sorrytons unclaimed on my alt acct, so claimed them all and tried to see how far I could get on it. Got to about 2k VP short of the last threshold. I didn't have any 4* or 5* characters at a particularly high level on that acct though. Empress Sato was on level 60, Mirror Ezri at 60, Mirror K'Ehleyr at 30, Mirror Phlox at 30, all of them one star. I added more stars on Sato as I crossed the threholds, but it didn't count for a lot.

I used about 3000 chronitons on the event. I had a number of items prefarmed and leveled Picard and Dax during the event. Already had Sato FFFE. Sitting at 1350. A year ago, this would have been sufficient for a Top 50 finish.

There is no doubt that a) events are becoming more competitive as more players join the game, current players acquire better crew, and event reward thresholds stay the same and b) Voyages have changed the number of chronitons necessary to be competitive at the sub-1000 mark in Galaxy events.

Thankfully, my goal was Top 2000 so I didn't have to dip into the mailbox or use weekend voyage chronitons.

  • Interesting. I started this event Thursday afternoon (shortly after noon) with well over 5000 chrons saved up from the Friday before. I used only 3000-3500 at the start of the event and the rest went to getting items for Mirror Picard and others (I am easily sidetracked in Galaxy events because a bunch of my in-progress characters pop up with items available and I have a hard time resisting). I was easily in the top 100 for much of Thursday and I've been in the top 300 since. If I used all 5k chrons I'd be top 100 easily, but I'm happy getting sidetracked for other characters and I'm planning on airlocking Mirror Reed anyways (I don't need another 1/5 taking up my few precious crew slots)

I've been farming chrons from voyages since the event started and saved last week's sorrychrons for phase 2. I'm still sitting in the top 250.

Having event crew is also a must. Having Mirror Picard at a high level (just got him to 100 and a couple items from FE), Empress Sato (now FF and FE'd) and an immortalized Princess Jadzia is all I've needed for this event.

1st phase recipes usually have a lower chron cost, so it pays to use most of your chrons there.

Also, if you burn through your 3k chrons in day 1 or 2, then you can use the naturally-occurring chrons, plus all your daily bonus chrons in the following days, so you actually get more chrons to spend.

And as others have mentioned, pre-farming helps. Use your video warps and cadet challenges to get items typically needed in Galaxy events, and if you do use chrons (ie, for hitting your daily target), use as little as possible while also maximising the pre-farming (there are a fair amount of 4-chron cost missions that give common Galaxy items).

I started the event with around 3k chrons and am currently sitting at ~1900th place, with 270k VP. I haven't started cashing in my super rare items yet though, so I should end up with a fair bit more.

EDIT: And for event crew, I had FF/FE Sato, 1/5* FE Lt. Cmdr. Jadzia and FF/FE Smiley as the only ones I ended up using. I didn't use any boosts (does anyone use those for Galaxy?)

    Update to my previous post:

After turning in all my super-rares, I'm now at ~400th place with 380k VP. And that's starting with 3k chrons.

I wanted to clear the top 50 event achievement so I had been saving and extending voyages since last friday when Galaxy event was announced. I had 8,000 or so starting the event. I had a ff/fe sato (got lucky and picked up 3 of her cards from voyages over about 3 weeks) and ff/fe 1701 Jadzia (also picked up 2 of her cards from voyages very recently). I used one or the other for every mission. I only cleared the thresholds in the first phase and made a big push on Saturday. I probably added another 2,000 or so chronotrons from voyages over the weekend, for just over 10k total. I was up to 21st on Sunday at 1am and finished at 34. I cleared the achievement, which is what I set out to do. But in the future I'll probably just go for the top 1000. It's so much easier and much less of a time commitment.

To go from where I was at 34 to to the top 10 would have required more than a million points more than I had at just under 700,000. That's just way more time and money than I'm going to spend. Hats off to those who can do it though. That is a lot of supply missions.
