Robbed of avatar joy

This is an extremely minor complaint. I hardly ever use the chat feature (my fleet uses Hangouts instead), but occasionally we do a bit of RP in-game. It's therefore frustrating that you can't see your own avatar next to what you've typed. And it's even more frustrating if you temporarily change your name/avatar to a different character That person has no way of knowing how it looks to the others. Like - if you want to have Kira pop in and say something, then return to your own character, both just show as plain text with no avatar.

Like I said - extremely minor. But still. ;)

The new client will give you your joy.
  • Nope. Restarted the app a couple of times and still no joy. :-(

You must not have installed the update. Check app store/play store for v3.1.0.

Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing.

  • It's working now. I think the holoprogrammes just take longer to reach me out here in the Delta Quadrant. :-)

  • Aaaaaand it doesn't work like I'd hoped. Like - the other day I changed to Empress Sato to toss in a line about inviting someone for a drink. Then changed back to me. Then later I changed to Wesley to say something smug to prompt a "Shut up Wesley." Now it just looks like Valeris said both things. :-/ I just now changed back to Wesley to post a silly comment on the situation, only to see that it changed ALL my chatspeak avatars to Wesley. So changing your avatar changes it everywhere, even retroactively. There's no way to be a Changeling and temporarily adopt the form of another character.

Ah well. Can't have everything, I guess.

Like I said - a minor complaint. But it spoils that bit of fun.

Do others see it that way, or only yourself?

EDIT: I'll answer my own question. Others see it like before, but I see all posts with my current avatar. So you can still have those fun exchanges, but no joy for yourself.

Oh that IS frustrating! It's no better than it was before, then. LOL

  • Disagreed,as that will clutter up the chat window. If you can't remember your avatar, you shouldn't chat, never mind RP.
