Well. Just went to check on the availability of the new update on the Google Playstore and this popped up...9w9s80463xjz.jpg

I was using an S9 before the S20, and during one "issue" with the game, (again, nothing to do with compatibility) someone at CS suggested I upgraded my phone! To say I wasn't happy would be an understatement, particularly as someone in my Fleet had already said the problem was on their end...

  • I'm running a fully updated Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus on Android 13.

Hoping someone's not done their job right either at Google Playstore or at STT Timelines...

    Any clues, devs?

Same problem on Android. Hoping it's just a bug.

    I am zero for 3

It says it is incomparable with my tablet

It is not available for google play beta

It did upgrade on Steam but when you go to play it says, "game not responding" (** Update, Steam did finely work)

So far, I am not impressed :pensive:
  • Rather than address it here, apparently they prefer to communicate over on Discord.
Seems it's affecting a lot of people...
  • The server push on Thursday is "supposed" to fix the issue.
    Hopefully for everyone.
(Unless it just breaks the game...)
    <cos that's never happened before!>

I have the very same problem with my Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G. And despite of this, Timelines runs perfectly without any issues, with perfect performance on my phone.

So I totally recommend halting the forced upgrade in order to solve this dumb compatibility issue beforehand. I don't buy a new phone for a game running perfectly on my device. I may have spent thousands of bucks for Timelines, but I refuse to throw my perfectly working phone in the trash can for being able to play that game also in the future. I'd rather shift that play time and money used for Timelines totally on my stationary Windows PC back.

No offense meant, just wanting to be honest. I mean, before my S20 FE 5G I used to play Timelines on an S8. Ridiculous.

I discovered the same problem today on my Samsung Galaxy A13 5G. I tried to update and Google Play said it won't work with my phone. I guess we'll have to wait and see if they halt the forced update if it means so many of us would no longer be able to play it on our phones. I can play on my desktop pc with Win 10. That version updates automatically when you launch it. Great, but I generally play it on my phone.

Samsung S22+ fully updated. Same thing. Not compatible.
Sir, I protest! I am NOT a merry man!
  • The whole thing is crazy..
At the end of the day, we're paying to play a game that's not really fit for purpose anymore. I don't imagine 9yrs ago that the devs expected it to last this long.

They don't have the staff to properly test the new "features", so we end up doing it for them.
If something happens that by chance works in OUR favour, they call it an exploit and start banning players, but when THEY screw it up??

Now I've had chance to chat to some of the players who know more about the game than the staff do, I'm not so concerned about the error messages that the Playstore are displaying, since the issue isn't with Google OR with our devices.

Whether WRG get it fixed on Thursday will remain to be seen, but I can foresee a massive exodus if players on Android can't access the game when the event starts. It will mean compensation all round.

To be honest, I don't like this new event type at all, and I was only going to be playing in order to get the required copies of the purple and gold crew needed the new Tier1 fuse crew.

If I don't get those, there's gonna be pitchforks and burning torches...

Same problem here (Motorola Moto G Pure with Android 12); I've turned in a ticket.

I could play it via Steam too. But why should I? For me it's a phone game, and how should I regularly progress with voyage dilemmas etc. without a phone? It has a reason why Britons call cell phones mobiles.

I mean, I don't carry my 60 lbs tower of power manly proud in my pants around like the Duke's balls of steel. And a nuclear power cell in my chest like the T-800 to power that thing. LOL
  • I can't get it to run on my PC at all, plus I can't afford the electricity bills I'd have to pay..

So yeah, I'm with you on the "It's a mobile game" thing.

I neither want nor need advice from the CS agents regarding me installing it on the PC.

I started playing the game in 2016, so I remember all the big changes and all the big screw-ups. It just seems to be happening more and more of late. When I was working and could afford it, I'd buy event packs each week. I shudder to think how much I've invested over the years, and that's probably the main reason I haven't just walked away (plus I genuinely love Star Trek in all its variations), so it's really frustrating to not get the most basic level of service in return.

I'm starting a new job as well this week, which will doubtless cut down on the amount of time I can devote to this game now, but if they don't fix this with the server push, it might be the final straw for me. Eh well.
  • Fill your boots everyone... there's a freebie..
    Oh.
  • Cancel the riot.

Somebody got a kick up the behind and uploaded the right file this time.

    Yes!

    It works!
  • Glad to hear.
