I cannot pass the new cheat check. (But I pass in the restart)

What is t his ? I cannot pass the new check . You proved, because I can not place the object perfectly, I am not human. I say the opposite you just proved I am human.

EFIT: What the heck? I get back in the game. It checks me again. I do not perfectly complete the puzzle. But this time I pass. What is going on. I should have passed the first two failures. I was closer

Edit2: my 3rd account just had the check pop up. Again I was not as close as my first two failures, and I passed. Was this just implemented today? And they fixed it today?

    Same. This is absolutely ridiculous.

Checks and balances that don't function properly are useless.

Did the Macros actually figure out how to recognize Crew? Was the change necessary to combat that, or for "optics"?!?!?

"The truth is like a lion; you don't have to defend it. Let it loose; it will defend itself."
  • Even discord recognizes crew, as evidenced by the behold helper.
But I imagine a bot would be much better in fitting that miniscule object in the empty space in the new cheat check than a human user.

The datacore bot behold helper has been identifying crew from screenshots for years. Identifying images from a limited set of images is trivial for modern computers.

You could probably get Google Photos to identify the character when a new card is released based on previously released variants.

Technology. I learned my early computing "skills" by learning how to make an Apple IIe continuously print "I AM GOING CRAZY" on the screen.

With some of the stuff hackers do these days, I guess it's within their purview to be able to trick the Crew check. I wonder how long it'll take someone to write a program that does the puzzles.

Anything involving computers is an arms race. The only thing you can do is develop new systems once the hackers (or cheats in this case) get around the existing ones. That's been the truth behind the anti-virus software industry for decades. Eventually, TP will have to come up with something new to replace the puzzle, but it'll buy everybody some time.

If a high false positive rate is causing frustration and the people using macros are continuing to be able to do so successfully, is it actually buying time in any meaningful way?

It's buying time until someone figures out how to program the macros, which is going to take a while. This is definitely more complex than basic image recognition.

What they should have been doing for years is building events that require strategy and skill. That's much harder and less needed for a bot to automate than an event where you mindlessly press the same buttons over and over again.

But mindless button-pressing is what STT is all about!

    Bring back expeditions.
  • Yes, expeditions please.

I also agree we need expeditions, or something else that would require actual strategy and thinking. I'm getting really tired of the repetive nature of most of the current events. Even being a "gotta collect them all" type player, the drive of getting each new gold crew isn't enough anymore.

    Yes, expeditions please.

Starbase/collection bonuses and Continuum mean we are unlikely to see expeditions again, along with the developers ruling them out.
