So many new obscure crew at the expense of main cast crew

in The Bridge
Was going to post this in Make It So, but that's where threads go to die, so I thought at least I'd get a few eyes on it here in the Bridge.
We've had quite a few crew introduced recently who are quite obscure in the grand scheme of things, imo. Which led me to look up when some of the main cast crew last had a new variant added to the game. According to Datacore...
Bashir: the last one, Assimilated, was released on 4/18/2023
Ezri: the last one, Returning, was released on 2/13/2023
Odo: the last one, Kodrak, was released on 1/22/2024, but if we're talking "Odo" Odo, the previous one, Bagman, came out on 8/23/2021
Yar: the last one, Polywater (with that horrible artwork), was released on 8/8/2018 (!)
Then some others, with their most recent variant's release date:
Chekov: 8/18/2021
Sulu: 4/18/2022
Kes: 10/2/2023
Barclay: 9/29/2022
Gul Dukat: 7/10/2018
Georgiou: 8/1/2022
Martok: 5/2/2022 (Roy Ritterhouse); 11/26/2019 (Chancellor Martok)
Phlox: 5/30/2023
Vic Fontaine: 12/17/2017 (for as often as he appeared, we should have more than 2 variants of him)
There are no doubt others I could name, but that's the list I came up with for now.
My point is, before we keep rolling on with crew who make even Trekkies like me go searching Memory Alpha to remind ourselves who the heck this new person is, why not get some more variants of better-known crew instead?

How many Archers, Spocks, Burnhams, Kirks, Picards, Rikers, Janeways, etc. do we need? For the most part, the characters you listed are minor, didn’t do that many things out of the ordinary, did not appear differently, and/or were on a limited number of episodes. Do we need a Warp Factor Two Sulu or Hand Me The Hypospray Kes?
There are a number of background characters that were on a number of episodes that could be represented once in STT like Ensign Gates from TNG or Leslie and Kelso from TOS. There could be more Timelines Originals or taking the opposing characters from Voyages and put them in the game. The artwork is already done. Make them 3* and add one to the game when there is a Voyage Event. I’m sick of the same 64 when opening packs.
Those characters are all well-represented in the game and were not who I was referring to.
Ignoring the four I started with to make your point doesn't quite substantiate your argument, lol. Bashir, Odo, Ezri, & Yar were far from minor characters, and there are a lot more potential variants that they could bring into the game with them.
The others may not have been as high-profile, but they all appeared in quite a few episodes, and I have no doubt that the folks at Tilting Point/Wicked Realm can come up with some good variants for most (if not all) of them which are more exciting than "Hand Me The Hypospray Kes". 😂
To your other point, I'm not saying we should not have obscure characters added to the game. As STT ages, it's a given that they will have to dig deeper and deeper into guest star roles and background actors, just to have enough new crew to release. My point was that this seems to have been happening a lot more lately, with other, more well-known and loved characters getting short shrift.
LLAP 🖖
EDIT: It's done.
I like new crew, but I do reiterate Super Dude: I don't need Hand Phaser Power Level 1 Yar, Hand Phaser Power Level 2 Yar, Hand Phaser Power Level 3 Yar and Hand Phaser Power Level 4 Yar.
Oh yeah, she was only in 28 episodes. Which is almost as many episodes as Star Trek Picard had over 3 seasons combined. Even Discovery only had 13 episodes a season. So your "only one season" argument isn't as strong as all that, when you compare it to those shows.
Q only appeared in 22 episodes across all the Trek series. But they certainly found plenty of opportunities for new variants of him. Yes, of course I realize his character often takes on plenty of different disguises and different outfits, so that makes it easier to create different characters. But despite that — and despite your use of the Appeal to Ridicule Fallacy — I do believe there are plenty of good potential future Yar variants in the game.
