Roadmap Snapshot - 2025.02.27

Thank you for your patience for the overdue roadmap for STT. As we aren’t having a supporting stream, I’ll be trying to provide as much context with this write-up but we’ll try our best to address questions as best we can asynchronously.
Without further ado, here we go!
COMING SOON
Player’s Choice Survey
June will be Player’s Choice Month once again, and we will need your help in deciding what to bring to the game. Players will vote for the Mega-Event Theme, Campaign, a New Honor Hall Crew, Giveaway Crew, and Avatar. Additionally, we will be asking a few questions for future development work and checking in on how we are doing in a few areas.
Medical Themed Mega-Event
Our next Mega-Event―Get Them to Sickbay―is going to feature Nurse and Physician as ongoing traits for the duration. Leverage your favorite medical crew new and old all month long!
Player Avatars - Porthos + Balok’s Cube
We missed the mark with leveraging the same art for Kirk and Butler as this year’s 9th year celebration avatar. Releasing to all players soon will be both a Porthos avatar and Balok’s Cube for you to show off your love of pets and threatening trickster aliens.
New Continuum Crew
It’s a night in sickbay for this crew you’ll be saving from the Continuum in time to leverage for the next Mega-Event.
Chef Collection
Sharpen your knives. Crew with the “Chef” trait will be our next trait-based collection.
Objective Event / Giveaway Crew
We have a couple Objective Event Giveaway crew planned prior to the one player’s will be choosing for April. One hologram and the other is an incorporeal villain with telepathic powers.
Specialist Event Type Public Beta
We have completed our internal playtest of what we had previously been referring to as Galaxy Event v2. What we are now calling the Specialist Event type will be rolling out its base functionality in our next update 11.1.0.
We still are aiming to leverage this event to replace the existing Galaxy event type mechanics, but developed them separately so that we had flexibility when it came to full event cadence integration. The mechanics and strategy are similar, but changed to fit the product and design goals:
Improved Player Event Engagement
When we looked at the event improvement initiative we kicked off last year, we identified Galaxy events as the target for improvement along with our new Voyage Event Type. Historically, Galaxy Events had been amongst our best performers and over time it had dropped below the other Event Types for our engagement thresholds. We are measuring the success of this event type based on this primary metric.
Removal of Crafting / Component Farming
A bit of context into the genesis of Galaxy Event and Supply Missions: Originally, the goal was to provide a space for players to spend down their extra components they were not using to level their crew. We eventually developed the replicator system that achieved this far more successfully.
The ability to farm the components also creates an inconsistent baseline that players start from heading into Galaxy Event types that invalidates the crew investment and ability to compete for players looking to top the leaderboards.
We will be communicating around the transition so that players can have their last hurrah with any farmed components to compete in Galaxy Events.
Leveraging Crew Collection / Depth / Strategy
The primary thing needed in a Galaxy events is a pile of components and the event crew to provide the best bonuses to maximizing VP. Our goal with the new design is to require players to be more thoughtful about which crew to use when. This will involve “locking” your crew in the new event type with cooldowns encouraging them to leverage more crew in their collection to efficiently collect the thresholds and compete.
Again, we’re aiming for these decisions to lead to the improved engagement with the Specialist Event type when we compare it to our historical Galaxy Event Type metrics. Looking forward to getting this out to you soon so we can collect feedback and integrate it.
IN DEVELOPMENT
Specialist Event Type Integration (See above)
Voyage Exclusive Crew
A species that lives in subspace can be achieved deep into players Voyages later this year.
Crew-Based Collection
With our reduced cadence of collections (going from monthly to bi-monthly) we are investigating different types of ways to create collections for players to earn rewards for collecting crew.
Prior to Player’s Choice Month, players will be able to collect a Collection-Exclusive Crew through our first collection based off of traits associated with a beloved belated actor who has touched multiple Star Trek franchises.
CONCEPT
Feature Exclusive Crew Acquisition
We’re finalizing our completion of development with our Event Initiative from 2024. We experienced some delays with some originally unplanned work, but we’re looking forward to the next thing: Getting those damn Voyage and Gauntlet crew that seem impossible to get but everyone else seems to have.
We are iterating on proposals and designs that are aiming to provide a way for players to earn towards these crew rather than needing to get lucky on a Gauntlet Box or late-stage Voyage Dilemma. Right now a leading candidate is a re-balance of rewards to allow for new currency types where that currency could be spent on similar rewards found in the features. Earn the Voyage currency and save up to get that Admiral Black you’ve been waiting on.
Please keep in mind that these things are still in concept and we are ideating on the best methods for solving this key component to the player's collecting experience.
While we’re here, we’d like to address the game mode concepts presented in previous roadmaps. We had several proposals and designs in 2024, but none of them satisfied the project needs and goals so we are putting a pin in that initiative while we prioritize the Feature Exclusive Crew Acquisition.
Player’s Choice Month Content
We got some ideas, but we need your help! Fill out the Player Choice Survey and tell us what you want to see in the game come June. SURVEY HERE.
As always, we appreciate your feedback and patience with our processes as they have changed in the recent months. If this type of information paired with roadmap snapshots is beneficial or not, please let us know.
