Event Survey Results - April 2025

On Specialist Events. We're encouraged by the rating from the first impressions question. More folks in the positive / very positive category compared to the negatives, but still some work to do as it is ranked the lowest on average compared to other event types.
For Galaxy Events, we see for reporting players, Galaxy Events are an important part of their game strategy outside of the events themselves. Beyond that, the overwhelming majority (80%) want to keep Galaxy Events in the rotation. Whether it be to maintain this loop of gameplay, or maintain more variety in events, Galaxy Events will not be going the way of the Verathans. They will be here to stay.
As for Expedition Events, this one is tricky. There have been conversations we have started on discord, and to bring Expedition events back as is, would be an exercise in purposeful player frustration. While a large contingent of players report not participating in Expeditions, the existing experience would not do much other than highlight the need of improving the experience in several ways. This is difficult to justify the development resources on it now. We may run a re-run of it to collect more concrete feedback, but it seems like it would likely only remind players why the Event type isn't their favorite and are not committing to any event run of it in the near future.
Lastly, on event rankings. While it is no surprise Skirmish and Faction rank the top with what we have collected from surveys prior and our internal metrics, Galaxy jumping up did surprise us. Additionally, Voyage Events and Specialist Events ranking lower highlights that we have some work to do in both these areas.
We will be delaying the integration of Specialist Events, changing the previously announced event Panacea into a Galaxy Event and targeting a second test of Specialist Events in May. We also will be doing some experimenting with Voyage Events starting with the next full Voyage event Infinite Combinations being a single phase and not requiring the restart mid-event. We're hoping this will lift our internal engagement numbers and improve the experience for players while we try a few things to see what we can do with this event type.
As always, we thank you for your passion and feedback and encourage you to continue the conversation with us on Discord. Thank you.
Live Long and Prosper,
The Star Trek Timelines Team
