Does anyone actually think that this acts as a serious deterrent to bot-users? As far as I can see, it just forces them to do a "puzzle" every quarter of an hour or so. They can still skip all the rest of the clicking.
I've noticed that it's much easier to "solve" these puzzles on PC than it is on a phone. My big fat fingers obscure too much of the detail making it hard to position things properly, far simpler to see what you're doing with a mouse. None of this should be a surprise, it's common knowledge that Ben and the rest of the dev team only ever develop and test on PCs.
Larger puzzle pieces would help, make it easier to see what you're doing. I don't know if this would help those with limited mobility or other similar issues as I'm fortunate enough not to have any problems of that sort. You'd hope that this kind of feedback would elicit some kind of response from somebody though. Legally speaking, this could be considered disability-related discrimination (important disclaimer; I am not any kind of lawyer, nor am I familiar with the legal codes in every relevant territory).
Whatever else, the checks need to be less frequent. It's completely over the top.
I think there should be a bot check after every batch of event points earned.
There is literally no difference in skill required to “solve” the bot check, vs rage tapping through a skirmish battle. Except one is repetitive and the other takes time to solve.
The test isnt perfect, as has been discussed at length. The test could be improved slightly.
But i am all for removing the monotony, so i say lets go harder.
Problem is that VP are given for monkey work, and the brain only has to be used to pass the nanoprobes screen.
Would be much better if the brain could be used to play the actual event...
None of the current event types require any kind of thought to play. The only one that ever did was Expedition events, and that's a large part of why they were so unpopular. So while you and I might place some value on actually using our brains, we seem to be in a distinct minority around here.

They do if you're trying to compete w/the whales w/o trying to spend like one. I'm trying to help dozens of players in my fleet play the best they can with limited resources and limited time. If you're not happy w/the game, feel free to get out. You're making my efforts a joke. And you're making yourself sound better than the game, which I'm sure is intentional. You've certainly got the "child" part of your name down cold.

You can finish in the top 100 with zero thought, and zero expenditure other than time, just so long as you're prepared to dedicate your weekend to mindlessly hitting buttons. If you're trying to persuade yourself otherwise then you're the one making your efforts a joke. Get over yourself.

Ok, you are so full of it that you need to be knocked down a few pegs.
There is no way, NO - WAY that you can finish as rank 1 with zero thought AND zero expenditure.
Every event has resource costs to keep climbing the board or staying at the top, and if you are a f2p or low spender, if you want to “win” (we will talk about that in a moment) an event, you have to stock pile and save those resources, while still developing a crew base that is sufficient to compete in an event. ALL of that requires some level of thought and planning. So stuff it.
On the subject of “winning”, if you are giving up a whole weekend to lock yourself away in a dark room by yourself, tap tap tapping on a screen solely for bragging rights amongst a group of dark room dwelling tap tapping tappers, are you sure that you are a “winner”?

I never said rank 1. That's your definition of success, not mine. If you have to resort to misquoting people to make a point then that says more about you than about the person you're attacking.

Yes, every event has some kind of resource expenditure. All of which can be covered by the resources that you accumulate from playing the game. Personally I've got more chrons than I'm ever going to be able to spend, no matter how much effort I put into skirmishes or galaxy events. And that's without making any kind of effort, once you're past a certain point they just pile up. Shuttle boosts for faction events are the only resource that I'd consider significant. So yes, I probably should have said "zero significant expenditure" for clarity.
For the record, I'm FTP. Have been for the last few years. Before that I was a minnow, I bought the campaign and the daily dilithium, but I stopped spending on that when they introduced the third campaign tier. Just so you know I'm definitely not coming into this conversation from a whale's perspective.
FWIW, I've never finished at rank 1, or even in the top 3. I don't have access to the right bots to achieve that. I have had a handful of top 10 finishes in the past, that required spending a lot of time. But not anything significant in terms of resources, certainly not any kind of cash expenditure. And definitely not any kind of thought, at any point during the event itself. Which is the whole point I was trying to make, but which you seem to have (deliberately?) misunderstood.
Were the rewards from those events worth the sleep deprivation? Probably not. Will I be attempting it again any time soon? Nope. But I do hit top 100 whenever I can be bothered, for much less effort. But then, you seem to be against the whole idea of actually doing well in events. Or was "dark room dwelling tap tapping tappers" intended as a compliment?
