Mirror Data Artwork

Mirror Data Artwork is the worst I've seen in a while :(
qxsvfgv8ufj5.jpg

The quality of the artwork of late has gone into rapid decline. I personally purchase packs for the crew as I'm covered 1200+ in all skill sets and don't play Gauntlet so power creep doesn't factor into my decisions to purchase packs.

Mini data would drive anyone with OCD insane more than the gauntlet notification bug and Mirror David Duchovny Reed was so bad 23rd century Martok would win a Mr Universe competition (perhaps this alludes to a new mega event?)

The new update is great lots of nice new features and thankfully the gauntlet bug in notifications is gone. I hope the artwork is addressed soon.

I've been championing for a Mariachi Q since February last year I hope he's on the back burner for a while as I'd hate to see the artwork of an iconic character be released sub par.

I've decided I'm going to let this Data go and not complete my Data's like I said above stats are not the reason I purchase packs it's about collecting my favourite characters and while Data is one of my favourites I think the artwork is in decline and if I continue to spend For the sake of it the issue with the artwork won't change. To each their own I'm not asking anyone to boycott packs but feel free to offer your opinions on the crew of late. Line groups are saying pretty much the same.

I hope 2018 ushers in a successful year for the developers and I look forward to new content coming out and seeing the game,DB and the community grow aswell as seeing the rest of Discovery.

2017 has brought us some nice new shineys (not the yellow shading on artwork though) regarding Artwork I know it's going to be decisive as some will love it and others will loathe it and you can't please everyone. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few

I seen this post in engineering after I posted this thread
    https://forum.disruptorbeam.com/stt/discussion/2217/art-feedback/p1

I'm glad DB are open to constructive criticism regarding the Artwork of late and there's some very good points made on the thread
  • That post is about fixing the issue. I to will not spend on mirror data or anyone else that belongs in DB's menagerie of horrors. They have really ruined the mega event I wanted since i started playing.
  • i havent really been on the forums much...but i totally agree with the data look. as soon as it came up i was shocked. looks more like tash yar :-)
  • First, I agree that the overall quality of the artwork has become a bit of an issue. Some have been okay to very good, some have been downright awful. For now we can only hope that they really are paying attention, reading the complaints, and addressing it internally.

That said - the Mirror Data art, like all the Mirror TNG art, is based on the comics and not on a TV show image. Therefore I think the art reflects that quite well. Much like the Lt. Aerx art reflected his origins in the animated series, these Mirror TNG characters pretty accurately reflect their appearance in the comics.

Are they perfect? No. But look at the source and compare, and you will see they are not deserving of so much negativity. At least IMO.

Apparently DB has learned nothing from the universally reviled Potato Head Martok debacle.
DB, your customers clearly want QUALITY art work if you expect us to continue spending $100 per week on a digital jpg.
Mirror Reed, Mirror Vic Fontaine, and Mirror Data are UNACCEPTABLY poor art work and we demand better for our hard earned money !

That is absolutely true. For me, the only thing that saves this event and makes me want to put in some extra effort in getting Mirror Data, is the fact that I always wanted to see Christopher Walken as a recurring crew member in Star Trek.

No. Several people who own the source comic disagree. Here are two recent comments I found:

And even a quick Google image search will tell you that what DB came up with is in no way close to what Data looks like in the Mirror Broken comics. The closest it comes is a bit of stylized artwork on one cover image. But take a look at these, and you will see there is a huge difference. This is the Data we should have gotten...

Nah... it'll be Mirror Dahar Master Koloth to round out the set.
  • Hopefully it's mirror Troi. The artwork looks great.

    awzfkzostkxi.jpg
  • Also did DB look around there are better versions of mirror data. This one is very lack luster at best. Why not use this one that actually looks decent? ze7avcuvw8mt.jpg
  • Until DB's current art department gets a hold of it anyway.

I was fortunate to pull Data in a single pull 650 dil Event pack and I agree with the OP. The Artwork is worthy of my 7 year old, simply terrible!!

    Don't forget Klingon O'Brien
  • Here's my question. What do you think are the possibilities of DB re-doing the art work for an entire character? This Data is so bad that i'm not doing my usual early event pull as I don't want this Data in my collection. Buuut, if they redo the art work, I would actually kick myself for not pulling. Oh the dilemma...

If your 7 year old actually can draw to that standard, then you want to nurture that talent as it'll take him/her places in the future. By 7, I hadn't progressed much further than this sort of thing.

NIce mirror data on the top row! He needs bigger arms though and it appears he now wears a command red uniform? That must be from the comics.

::sigh:: thanks bud. Good to know I'll be happy with my decision.

Came in to post about how TINY he looks next to any other character. Saw that it's posted.

So I second it. Tiny Data!
