Gauntlet Timer not going full four hours

I don't care if I'm calling out an 'advantageous' bug. It seems to me that my gauntlet crew with refresh, sometimes, before 4 hours. I have detected no pattern, no idea if it affects only me, and really don't have any decent way to determine it because i don't log in for gauntlet every four hours on the spot.

The 4 hour refresh timer starts ticking whenever you log in or open the game after the previous timer finishes.

If you wait to use your crew in the gauntlet, it could result in them appearing to have less time to refresh (since the timer started as soon as you logged in).

There are some more excruciating details/corner cases that I could dig into, but without some more specific information on the behavior you're seeing, I'm going to assume that's what you're seeing.
  • Hopefully, I can be more clear. Or I am being dense and do not understand what you are saying Peachtree.

I play gauntlet at 700am. Takes maybe 5 minutes. I should expect that around 11am or later that my crew have been refreshed. However, I have entered/logged into the game knowing full well that it is has not been four hours, say 10am, and all 5 crew have been refreshed
  • Great question Marakith! I feel like I have seen this too. May I be so bold as to ask it another way for those wiser than us?

Is the 4 hour gauntlet timer player specific, or is it universal for everyone in the gauntlet?

Based on the current timing for me (13hr 22min left in the gauntlet and 3hr 29min left until my crew refreshes,) I would assume that it is player specific, and the shortened timeframe I see is due to the fact that I have a habit of leaving the game running in the background on my phone. So I would agree with Peachtree's explanation above.

    Definitely player specific.

They key point is whether your crew refreshed at 7:00AM when you played, or earlier. If you check the timer after playing one battle, you'll know when the crew will refresh again.

    Some possible scenarios:

    1) You first entered the gauntlet at 6:00AM, but waited an hour to play. Although it's not visible to you until you run a battle, your refresh timer has started as soon as you entered. When you complete your first battle an hour later, you would see 3 hours remaining on the timer.

    2) You had previously entered the gauntlet and your crew was due to refresh at 6:00AM. You are in game, or the game is in the background but not asleep when the timer runs out. Your crew refreshes. An hour later, you play. You again have 3 hours remaining on the timer.

    Some examples from my experiences:

    00:00 Join Gauntlet
02:00 Run crew through gauntlet (observe timer will refresh crew in 2hrs, so at 04:00
04:30 Re-open application (observe refreshed crew)
06:00 Run crew through gauntlet (observe timer will refresh crew in 2.5 hrs, so at 08:30)

    Day 2 works similarly.
16:00 Run gauntlet, go to sleep (observe timer will refresh crew in 3 hrs, so at 19:00)
00:00 Wake up, open application (observe refreshed crew)
03:00 Run gauntlet (observe timer will refresh crew in 1 hr, so at 04:00)
03:59 Open application, watch gauntlet screen as all crew refreshes when time ticks to 04:00

I HAVE seen an occasional behavior that will require you to actually open the gauntlet menu in order to force the refresh to happen. I can't make it happen 100% of the time, but I am certain I've seen it. However, I don't believe this is the issue you're experiencing.
  • Thanks for the clarifications!
  • Thanks Peachtree and Dralix. I understand now.

I don't like it, it seems a player could game it their advantage at the end of a round. Unless this is something DB intended.

That depends on what you mean by "game in favor". I wake up at 530am, so, if I trigger all resets properly, on the course of the day, I can run gauntlet,at 5pm and right before it closes shop at 7pm (EST). None of the resets are less than 4 hrs apart. There is no cheating here.
  • It might be possible the confusion is around the word "run"

When you say "run gauntlet" are you saying simply open the gauntlet screen in the game, and do nothing OR open gauntlet and actually play some matches?

I would interpret "run gauntlet" as complete a round of matches. But it doesn't matter really - the 4 hour timer starts as soon as your crew refreshes.

    Next round, try the following:
    • Note when your gauntlet indicator updates, either because you launch and it shows 5, or you're already in game and see it change.
    • Wait 15 minutes.
    • Run a battle.
    • Select the same crew for a second battle and check the refresh timer. It will say 3:45.
