How many players in STT?

So, I been looking at rewards and ranks on events, and Gauntlet, and I come to realize DB has automated bot players. There is no way a game could have 50 THOUSAND Plus players, and still be loosing money. besides the rewards are bad too, I mean really, 50,000 THOUSAND + Players and only top 1thousand Get a good reward, That would make the odd of ranking anywhere in event .02%or less???? So game is rigged badly, or DB is making way too much money.

How do we know if they are losing money or not? We know they have had a steady income and that they took on some more venture capital earlier this year....

Though I must admit, I thought the 4 star ranked rewards were pretty damn cool for my first year.
  • You sound mad. They aren’t going to discuss money here, we are just the players and not investors.

The game isn’t perfect, but considering the popularity of Star Trek it isn’t a stretch for there to be 50k players worldwide.
  • nope, not mad at all. I spend my share,.. what I was more interested in though are the amount of FAKE or Bot Controlled accounts. 50 Thousand + Players at $100 a month? $5,000,000 So $5 Million monthly, Or There are maybe only a couple Thousand Real players and 30 Thousand Bots.

I have no idea where this kind of math comes from. I'm pretty consistently a top 1000 player in shuttle events while spending between $0-15 dollars per month (sometimes I buy the card, sometimes I buy the special 10/10 offer, sometimes I don't).

There's a legion of pure F2P players out there, including entire fleets. And I'd bet the majority of playing players come in south of $100/month, too.

A lot of people have more than one account also. If you Google game revenues, this one doesn't do too bad :)

And there are tens of thousands who download it and then quit without doing more than a couple days of playing.

And not everyone pays money. I am just shy of level 43 and haven't payed a dime. (Though I intend to do the monthly card some day.)

Its funny how this bot (shown in the screenshot below) and this post are perfectly timed together.

I know it is a bot because when i click the avatar nothing comes up, unlike when i click the avatars of actual players...I'm being beaten by a robot :disappointed:

Sorry, Shan has already debunked that theory.

    It is not a bot.
It is a display issue we are working on.

Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing.

Plausible deniability is not debunking. Didn't the X-Files teach us anything?

I see people in my fleet ranked 70,000+ so there are at least that many that joined this event.

I'm guessing they are the type that logged in and got 1 victory point to claim the community reward. At this moment, everyone ranked in the top 50 are 800,000 victory points or higher. The top player is 2,800,000 victory points.

Thank you everyone in the top that pays above $100 a week so the rest of us can lay back and play for $4 a month or less.
  • STT does have a very large player base in my opinion, because since I started in January 2017, I have been seeing it grow exponentially. Unlike other shi... less-populated... mobile games, where devs are forced to use bots, the STT devs don't have to, as they've already lured tons of trekkies in. While 80% of the player base plays casually, and probably 30% of it logs in like once a week, along with the top players with a second and third accounts, it is still boasts a very decently sized player base.

Hence me sticking with it, because I couldn't care any less about mobile games :P

Bots do exist in game especially the gauntlet. If I choose to ignore the gauntlet my crew/my captain Name get's added to make up the numbers countless times I had people gloat they beat me in the gauntlet yet I haven't played it in months. There was an issue with gauntlets where if your "bot" was in a gauntlet and then you tried to joined one you got a server error as the server has your account trying to play in two different gauntlets
  • There may technically be thousands of accounts, but the majority are undoubtedly very casual players who log in only sporadically and play for a few mins here and there.

I have edited the title of this thread and I am closing it.
There are not bots in game. The gauntlet issue is still be worked on and, if I am remembering correctly, is related to a player having switched DBID.
