Shan: simple analogy for why we are so upset

Shan,
You and others may be confused why something that was given freely and we weren’t expecting would upset people, consider this:

Imaging that on your cable package you received ads that popped up on your screen every week for a month offering a year of HBO for $25. Eventually you take your cable company up on the offer and buy the plan. Then January first they announce that everyone is getting HBO for the year as part of your basic plan.

Think how you would feel. Wouldn’t you be angry, feel robbed? Wouldn’t you demand a refund and want to know why the company was pushing an offer for a month that they knew would be worthless?

Just thought this would help explain how we feel.

We're not confused. Shan's been too focused on putting out fires today, I can understand why it would seem like the message hasn't been clearly articulated within Disruptor Beam. Shan as well the Player Support team have also made the entire production team aware that the concerns cover a gamut of different player perspectives.

I mentioned this in another thread, that while I cannot promise anything further will be done regarding the mailed-out Mirror Picard, I can tell you that we will be reviewing this tomorrow after the server pushes and client restart. The results of those discussions, whatever they may be, will be communicated to the players.


However, HBO for $25 is a bad deal.

I appreciate that DB responded quickly to fix the problem and make amends. Would be good if we could exchange the Picard for another citation if we have him at 5/5. Or maybe exchange him for a Troi.

I would be happy with a $24.99 refund. Or a 5* citation. Or a 5* Behold. Or a Mirror Troi. Or a Mirror Beverly or Data. Or 50k honor. Or pretty much anything but another Mirror Picard that I already paid for!

So then listen to this and actually take it to your meeting. We have been feed the line that you herd us and are considering the issue for to long. DB history on saying you herd us and the not doing anything about it is as old as this game. And at best we get half steps and at worst we here nothing but we are hearing you. This does not need to be thought about it needs to be fixed. We paid you to participate in an event and we where shorted. To then "compensate" us with crew we where not competing for and whom a large portion of your players had gotten is insulting like. I hope I am clear!
