Apology gifts, What's fair (Shoutout to DB and community opinion)
Trust is gone and a bug in the comming event is inevitable.
Based on all the problems that happened in the past during events, can DB make a list of what they think are appropriate apology gifts. That way, the community can protest before more harm is done, and through communication, a mutual agreement can be reached.
For example:
-event crew not receiving bonus: time boosts equal to half the time this bug was in place to crew that actually had that crew in their roster. Don't tell me it's not possible to query the database for something like that. Apologies should only go out to affected player. If it goes out to all, affected players will still be at a disadvantage.
Apologies to affected players has been done in the past (with of course always the few missing players), but thats a fair way of dealing.
I say half the time because a shuttle might still succeed even without the bonus.
-server crash at the start of the event: time boosts to make up for the lost time.
-server crash at the end of the event: Disable the event so people can't claim the rewards when the server comes back up. Query your database for all players who had shuttles out that would have claimable during the crash, and give them the VP they deserved. I've seen many posts that claim that win or loose is determined at the moment the shuttle is send, so this would be perfectly doable.
Galaxy events would need another set of rules of course.
But lets keep it simple and work on the first event type to come.
From my standpoint, my propositions aren't even an apology, but they do seem fair to me.
Some querying the database is involved, but thos queries could be written today, and available if needed to quickly deal with the situation.
Please do an effort and plan ahead, don't go full crisis mode when the cow has drowned (literal translation of an expression in my language) and make the wrong decision.
Edit: to the mods out there, i would appreciate if any response that is not related to working to a solution is deleted.
We do not need another 'where's my money for picard thread'

Back to business then.
Galaxy, a bit more difficult to determine in my honest opinion.
-crash at the start of an event: Since no-one can build is there need for an apology? galaxies aren't that timestricken.
-event crew not receiving bonus: award those with said crew with 1 rare rewards fore very 15 minutes the problem was in play or something, or some sorrytons.
-crash at the end of an event: as many have uttered, the apology should have been a citation. but in my opionion should be related to the rank you had when the crash occured (and possibly the final rank). For example of the strongest crew in you ranked rewards was a 5*, they should need to get a 5* citation, if the best crew was a 4*: a 4 star citation etc. But keep like a 50 rank margin. So if you have a 4* crew reward but 50 places up would have been a 5*, then they should need to get a 5* citation as well. The reason i make the apologies ranked is to avoid people just entering the event without really playing, and then doing a dos attack just to get a high priced 5* citation.
-problem with the recepy: like for example with the type 1 phaser. There are 2 different type 1 phasers. If the suggest farm missions include a wrong one: everyone is affected and sorrytons are in order.
But also other possible problems with recepies should result in sorrytons i think.
Crashes outside of events: voyages are the main part of the game that could be affected. It should be possible for DB to determine which voyages failed during the downtime, and those players, and only those should receive dilithium equal to the amount is needed to refresh antimatter. Independent wheter the player did revive a voyage or not. In the end the player lost items or dilithium. The lost something either way.
Again i feel these kind apology gifts are not really gifts, but should compensate the imablance created by a crash/bug.
Additional for shuttles
-wrong vp is given (remember when a failed shuttle gave like 10k vp?): If the database is setup properly, every earned vp transaction should be logged individually. From this it should be possible to recalculate the correct vp for each player either during the event, or after the event. If not the same citation apology as for galaxies should be in order. Although the benefit of such a bug could be huge, and even this 'proposal' feels not entirely in place.
To conclude, there should be a mechanisme in place to block players for collecting their ranked rewards when an event ends, so that if needed appropriate compensations/recalculations could be made. Now i fully realize that there'll be people who'll have unclaimed chrons in their rewards with a supply kit running. There'll probably be other scenrios that stem from doing cominations, but hey, then it's your own fault for not claiming them when you could.
But this is what i feel should be the minimum compensation.
And every 4 serious bugs/crashes or so, it may be a little more for everyone wheter affected or not.
It'll force you, DB, to do better quality checking.
For most bugs it would enough to log event missions.
Bonus char not giving bonus? Wrong VP on an expedition node? 5* Event Char giving hilarious amount of VP for shuttle fails? --> Server Log -> SQL undone affected steps -> SAL redo affected steps -> fixed. Even fair for everybody not aware of issues and would further prevent abuse of bugs (arachnia fail VP).
Also this would mean no **tsk tsk** exploding in the forum, until an official answer appear. As you could continue playing knowing wrongs will be made right.
In essence they are trying to misrepresent themselves as having lower rank. By doing this they make people think they have enough VP to hold their rank reward. This is akin to trying to come in at the last minute on a online auction and bid a penny higher. They got what they deserved for trying this tactic.
Keep in mind they still have those tactical solutions. And when a future event uses tactical solutions they will have a big advantage.
So essentially calling them liars? ('misrepresenting')
Dude its a playstyle that happens within valid time parameters of the game. It is like saying to the Steelers playing the Patriots--- hey **tsk tsk** happens, but don't matter if you're 2 points behind and have the ball, we're ending the game at the two minute warning. We don't have the capacity (an active ref still awake) that can ref for the last part of the game.
In the recent faction/expedition event, people who had gone to a lot of trouble in the faction part, but who would no longer have enough time to do all the expedition tickets, could at least then have chosen to ignore the expedition tickets in the knowledge that their earlier efforts would not have been effectively wasted as a result.
