Should we be able to Retain and use super rares across multiple events ?

All this talk of strategy and redeeming super rares in Galaxy's and when..

I want to counter suggest / poll an alternate idea..
Ultimate competition,
Ultimate long term strategy..
Let us bank them over all Galaxy events !
Redeem them whenever.

I build 2 crap tons in this event but save all super rares.. build 4 crap tons the next event and 6 the one after, 4th Galaxy use them all !

I may take first place..
I may reach first place and someone who saved up for 7 events comes along and kicks my butt.. it would add a whole new element and make them hella fun (at least in my opinion)

  • So long as I can save them up for Faction events too then yes. Sounds like a crazy plan. Let's *Spock's pink unicorn* things right up.

I suppose it's worth pointing out that if you hoard a huge load of chrons over several weeks, you're essentially doing this anyway for Galaxy events.

I have ended events with extra super rares. They are in my inventory. I figure if the exact same event returns with he same super rare, I'm ahead of the game. But to have any super rare work in any future event is madness.

I think that as of several months ago, any left over rare rewards from a Galaxy event now disappear from your inventory completely. Used to be people used them as replicator fuel, but I don't believe you'll find any in your stock from the last several Galaxies.

Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing.

Hm, I stand corrected. Had to look that up, but those appear to be from the Orion Belt event. I know they did disappear for awhile, as there were several threads with people asking why they were no longer available after the event like they used to be.

DB seems to have changed there minds several times and different events have had the items behave differently as far as retention,

I ended up dumping some into the replicator back in the days before Voyages when I got close to the 1000 item limit. I'm rethinking whether that was wise or not lol.

I say no, but only because I would cry if I saved for months and didn't get what I wanted.

But if they pop up again in a repeat of a galaxy event and you stockpiled them... sure, crazy can pay off every once in a while...

I suspect this would simply be a worse strategy than hording the production items to begin with.

Personally I wouldn't even mind if they just automatically turned themselves in when you had enough. I save mine for a couple hours before the end, but only because I know everyone else is also and my ranking will tank if I don't.

I don't like long events. So this is a no. I don't mind the 4/5 character I get for the mega, but stringing events along in a sort of connected story just doesn't do it for me.

So long and thanks for all the fish.

He isn't suggesting that it BE setup like that. He is suggesting allowing someone to save rare rewards if they want to across events.

Truthfully, I don't mind that suggestion. It means that someone cannot accurately determine what placement they are in, because they have no idea what someone under them has. If we go the way some are suggesting of auto-turn-in, then you always know exactly where you place, BUT that also means you know how much you have to spend if you want to take a particular threshold (5th, 15th, 100th, 1000, etc). Right around each threshold, you get people spending trying to retain their particular position. They always are well aware of those immediately around them in ranking. Being able to calculate your position with your score without actually showing it, it allows for you to not spark off a spending spree when people are competitive for the particular threshold you are aiming for. An event shouldn't come down to whoever can spend the most is guaranteed the spot they want (or close to it).

I don't want them for the next event. I wasted items to make them and I can't even toss them into the replicator. Galaxy recipies always take items I need for crew instead of the 900 basic type 1 phasers or any of the others that I have ridiculous boatloads of. I always feel bad when I have 7 or 8 of 9 and the event ends because they just vanish...
    Immortalized crew count:
    27×1★; 45×2★; 72×3★; 121×4★; 14×5★

    FE, not fused crew count:
    0×2★; 0×3★; 18×4★; 21×5★

Last week’s Galaxy part of the event was truly awful...0* hyperspanners and 1* ID codes are bad enough to get for crew but when they are apparently the featured items for the event it just isn’t worth it.

And Scott surprises the world with a "NO!"

Left-Overs if there is a repeat is one thing, but in a totally different Event sounds like a recipe for disaster.

    1. More complex Coding would probably be needed.
    2. DB would likely have a problem with the extra Coding.

    Don't remember how long ago it was, but I did all four Max Level Equipment for someone with left-overs I had because we had a blackout here and I did not get to cash them in in the Event. {Was it maybe Mirror Picard? That would have been somewhat recent, if it was.}

After some thought, I'd like to qualify my Yes vote.

    1) If you have enough super-rares to be able to cash them in for VP, they should be cashed in during the event I which they were acquired. See also - suggestions regarding automatic turn-in upon completion.

    2) If you’re almost to the next turn-in quantity but not quite, those items should stay in your inventory.

    3) Inventoried super-rare Galaxy items should only be able to be used in re-runs of that same event. For events not likely to be re-run (such as those from mega-events), keep the status quo because I bet it would be a pain to code a partial VP award to be applied at the end of the event.

I am fully on board with the idea of having a new kind of event but I'm so burned out on Galaxy and Expedition events I wouldn’t want a new event that is too similar, even if it did have a long-term component.

This is bordering on hilarious, now. I guess the auto-censor either uses random phrases, or uses longer phrases if the "forbidden" phrase is longer.......
