Med dilemma

Here's a dilemma...

Say you were getting 50k honor soon in a nice message from DB and could get a legendary citation and you had two choices.

1. Add the final star to Bashir, Julian Bashir - to get a FF 5* with a 927 base Med (his Dip is 1009, quite handy there too so good for voyages)
2. Add a 4th star to the Mobile Doctor to have a 4/5 with a MED of 1042 - the other stats are not outstanding however.

The only other 5* MED character I have anywhere near that is Mirror Crusher at 1/5 (I have Dark Ages McCoy, Alternative future Bashir and Age of Sail Crusher but they are more proficiency orientated). I'm inclined to FF Bashir because that in itself is an achievement.

Personally, I wouldn't spend 50k honor on anything until the replacement Kahless is announced - with the possible exception of a mega event recurring 5*.

In this case, I would add the star to Bashir, because you will get the most mileage out of it - it's a huge jump in the base and secondary skills (160 and 150 respectively). Another thing to consider is saving that honor up, because if the production update is something to go on, the new Honor Hall crew should be announced in the following weeks, and they are usually quite good both for normal play and the gauntlet.

I would actually advise you going with Mobile Doctor. While getting Bashir 5/5 would be an achievement, I believe you will receive greater overall return from Mobile Doc. Mine was 4/5 for about 2 months and he was extremely valuable, making nearly every voyage, and a killer on shuttles. Plus, making him 4/5 is the only path to him eventually becoming immortal (at which point he becomes a monster), and I would prioritize his 5th star over giving one to Bashir as well.

I have a couple of other MEDs about Bashir's 5/5 base, and they're certainly nice to have around, but Mobile Doc is an all-star that will bring you bigger ROI in the long run.

I have a stash of 300k honor for the Kathless replacement so that's covered I probably should have spent some of it already but I was holding back to see who it was going to be.

This "gift" 50k honor I'll spend as soon as I get it.

I would go with Mobile Doc too personally. Having both of them at 4/5 means you may be able to FF them from a behold still, and Mobile Doc's med will probably be more useful than Bashirs dip. Just my two cents

300k honor stash?! Amazing! But seriously, I don't think you need a stash bigger than 100k or 150k. There's no reason to expect the Kahless replacement to be more than 100k. Another 50k would get you a head start towards the next replacement.

Spend the remaining 150k on 5th stars for both JBJ and Mobile Doctor! Then save your 50k "gift" for the next 3/5* you eventually get.

Thanks - yes - it's quite possible I'll only get one of the Kahless replacement if his proficiency is the thing. But if the replacement turns out to be a FF monster of some type I might need the 300K to FF it. I'm happy to just wait the couple of weeks to see who it is. DP did promise to change it this month - I can wait...

Personally I would citate 3/4* Mobile Doc since, even at 4/5* he is better than a 5/5* AOS crusher (who was the previous #3 MED behind Culber and Mobile Doc (Mirror Crusher or Troi might be better, I have not got the stats to hand).

While this doesn't get you a FF gold character, its one less chance you get a FF gold behold.

Must be nice to get acknowledged that you were ripped off. I can see it is more and more likely my bank is going to have to fix the issue.

I actually use my 4/5* Mobile Doctor a ton in voyages. In voyage MED slots, the Hologram trait shows up A LOT! So not only does Mobile Doc give me nice MED and a bit of decent SCI, he also usually adds 150 antimatter to my voyage.
I can say with certainty that the Hologram trait shows up in one of my voyage MED slots probably 9 out of 10 times. Interestingly enough, I don't use my Bashir, Julian Bashir who is same as yours, a 4/5*, all that often and I'm not really sure why.

I have also AF Bashir FF'd and I use him and Mobile Doc as my MED crew the most on any given voyage. So AF Bashir is worth fusing, but if you're looking for someone who can show immediate usage then I'd go with Mobile Doc. As for Mirror Bev, mine is 2/5* so what you would be fusing up to, and I almost never use her. The voyage has to be MED gold and her traits have to show up for me to push using her because otherwise I have better medical crew at the moment that can be more efficient than she is at 2/5* right now.
