My Super Rare/Purple Crew list for Critique

edited October 2017 in Ready Room
I'll need to airlock a few of these crew as Purple/Super Crew are my largest % of crew members by a wide margin. I have quite a few of these immortalized, but still need to keep the best of them for Voyages, Shuttles, Gauntlet, missions and whatnot.

I would go with the 4/4 Level 100 that are of limited potential (just average stats) like the Duras Sisters or Captain Proton Paris. A lot of the "main" crew (regulars on the shows) just have average stats but people hold on to them for events. In reality, they can all be vaulted to make room and then if there is an event using them that week, just pull them out of the vault for the duration of the event and then put them back.
  • Thanks Althea. Yes, Captain Proton Paris is a real disappointment, he looks like a fun crew member to have. His traits are the best thing about him (for Gauntlet and Voyages) , but his stats are so poor you still can't really use him. And the Sisters of Duras don't even have good traits.

  • I would break down your list into three separate lists. First list is immortalized, second list is 4/4's not completely leveled up and the third list is less than complete 4's. After you do that these questions need to be asked

First list: Which characters do you use the most ? Which characters are likely to be in this months event? Your answers there provide you with the rest that can be frozen safely.

Second list: Which characters can you get immortalized? They then can go to the first list and be winnowed using the first lists two questions

Third list: Which characters do you like the most and want to really keep? Which characters will be the most useful in things like gauntlet, voyages , events and so on ? Hopefully by the time you get to the third list you have some breathing room by the effects of using the first two lists to make room.
  • Nice list, goodness.

With the amount of immortalized crew you have, I wouldn't airlock anybody. Even if their stats **tsk tsk** and you'll never use them. They can be immortalized for the achievement.

Now just look at who you use and who you never use. For shuttles, keep your best 10 base skill crew for each skill. This is MASSIVE overkill, but you have the roster space. Next, keep the characters you use for gauntlets. Again keep a generous amount of people who just miss the gauntlet cut; you never know when some random crew gets a 65% crit chance.

Next is Voyages. Look at the best Combined skills. Prioritize medical, prioritize three-skill crew.

After that; keep event crew. The main characters; people DB like ;).

    Finally, arena crew.

I echo most of the sentiments here. If you need space, really freezing immortals could be very fruitful. Any 100s that you have that are not FE should go to the front. It frees the slot and it gets you more in the achievement which leads to more free dilithium.

I don't need to repeat what already has been said here. So, because you asked for a list who to airlock, here you go:

The parameters on which I selected them were
    • unlikely to be event chars
    • HA: hard to level
    • WS: weak stats (I consider weak if their primary stat is under 700)
    • number of skills
    • your fusion level
    :
    • Ardra level 1 1/4 stars - WS
    • Weyoun Clone 4 level 1 3/4 stars - WS
    • Agent Haris level 2 2/4 stars - HA
    • Commander Dolim level 1 4/4 stars - WS
    • Maquis Eddington level 1 1/4 stars - WS
    • Doctor Chapel level 20 1/4 stars - only has one skill
    • Lily Sloane level 20 4/4 stars - HA
    • Lon Suder level 14 4/4 stars - WS
    • Edith Keeler level 30 4/4 stars - WS
    • Vic Fontaine level 36 4/4 stars - HA
    • Mirror Jennifer Sisko level 60 4/4 stars - WS

How I choose my Super Rares for vaulting/not vaulting is this...
    1. Do I like them?
-if yes, then I keep them regardless of stats (e.g. The President of Earth).
-if no, then I move to 2.
    2. Are they good for gauntlet (e.g. 200 minimum proficiency or at least 400 max proficiency)?
-if yes, then I consider keeping them depending if I need their skills (e.g. Lt. Valeris).
-if no, then I move to 3.
    3. Do they reach a minimum of 700 base stat in their primary skill?
-if yes, I keep them in my crew slots (e.g. Dr Crusher).
-if no, I will immortalize then vault them (e.g. Duras Sisters).

  • From your "ambiguous" list, the ones that stand out to me are Ambassador Spock & Kal-if-fee Spock (when Spock events roll around, you want as many as you can field, right?); Apollo, Augment Riker, and Grand Proxy Neelix for gauntlet; and Changeling Bashir for gauntlet and skill combo MED-ENG. The rest I would consider pretty weak and unnecessary.

You have a point about the Spocks. But the main gist of the "ambiguous" listing is to say "it is really up to you to keep these crew, you may find them too weak for your personal taste, or you may see their potentials useful".

Personally, I'd ditch Apollo, since he already has Mirror Phlox and Antaak. And I wouldn't worry about Changeling Bashir for the gauntlet, his MED and ENG proficiencies are really not that impressive and those two skills appearing together is not common enough to worry about. But a different good point about Bashir is Bashir appears in events often enough and Changeling Bashir does count for him as bonus crew in events.

  • Thus far Maquis Eddington is dismissed.
Next candidates are Grand Proxy Neelix and Captain Proton although they won't get dismissed, they'll be frozen.02c8u28e35hb.png

Neelix will be bonus crew next week.

How many merits do you have? Because if your merit total is comparable to your credits (relatively speaking) then it's not worth the time to debate who you should and shouldn't vault. Vaulting is not permanent.
  • I really like Grand Proxy Neelix and Captain Proton as cards too, but they just have weak stats/not very useful.

    I currently have 31,388 merits.

Thanks for the 411 on keeping Grand Proxy Neelix around for another week or so. I'll get rid of another card I like/immortalized but has the same problem like Colonel Karr

    I currently have 31,388 merits.

That's enough that you can vault and unvault to make every week a theme week. Klingon week, Starfleet week, Voyager week, whatever you want. So I'm having a hard time believing this whole thread is anything more than a humblebrag.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
  • No i'm pretty much out of crew slots right now. I know everyone focuses on airlocking Greens and Blues, however the purple/super rare crew are by far the largest % of my crew. The purple/super rare list as you can see, just needs to trimmed 'in a major way' and just getting a little advice, encouragement to do it. Honestly, I just hate airlocking some low level 4/4 crew. Another reason i'm looking for someone make me feel it's the right move to just get rid of T'mir or Lon Suder. You know?

So here's my dead serious, sincere advice then.
    1. Check your immortalized crew against any uncompleted nodes you may have. If you can finish a node, do it.
    2. After completing step 1, track all crew you send on shuttles/voyages for the next week or so.
    3. Any immortalized crew that has never or rarely been used for non event activity, and is not announced bonus crew for a known event (currently that list is Discovery crew + Ferengi) - vault.
    4. After step 3, if someone vaulted becomes bonus crew, unvault.
  • 10-4. Thx

I picked up Mirror Sisko from a Voyage yesterday. My best guess is to airlock him, because his stats aren't that terrific.

This is such a lazy forum thread ... a short breakdown:

    - OP has 240 crew slots
    - maybe they keep 9-10 2* crew and then 6-7 3* crew (there's an optimal of 7 and a good minimum of 15 to keep around for ALL cadet missions).
    - the OP has thrown out a list of 121 4*s
    - this leaves the OP with maybe 102 crew slots that are probably filled with 5* crew.
    - many 1/5 FE lvl 100 crew are often better than 4/4 FE level 100 crew.

    Conclusion
There is absolutely NO reason to have to airlock a SINGLE crew member on OP's crew list. The OP has 32+ FREE crew slots (the number of FF/FE 4*s they have, plus any above the bare minimal cadet crew of 7 on their crew list), that is more than enough to do portal pulls until the cows come home. All 32 of those crew can be cried without issue, as:

    a) they can be brought back at a minor cost (3 per day for merits) and so are never lost. i.e. if needed for events etc. just defrost them.
    b) the 102 5* crew are probably of better quality than many of those 32 crew, so no need to have them hanging around. This is even assuming the OP has ZERO FF/FE 5*s that they might be able to cryo too (not all 102 can be that good).

Just for the uninitiated ... Fencing Sulu is the easiest 4* to level by far ... with the chrons the OP had at their disposal at the time (1000+ ... see screenshot) of air locking them they could have fully levelled Sulu!!! Anyone who has Sulu FF will probably have him immortalised ... i.e. this was probably a double FF copy.

Anyway, my 2 cents ... this kind of thread doesn't help anyone because OP's not really being serious.

if anyone is serious about events, I personally feel like airlocking any main cast folks is a bad decision unless you back is up against a wall. Even with Worf or Riker with their many variants, if its a shuttle/faction mission you need to fill up them shuttle seats.
