I think SilverRose's point is the appropriate counterpoint to your devils advocacy.
I am very much in the Crash and Burn Catagory. VIP13 and nothing to spend my money on anymore, sure I could take the pull offers for 10$ but I would only airlock 99% of it so there is no point. If I wanted to piss money up a wall I would find more creative ways to do it.
Expected another whining post from a whale but think the OP is spot on here. I'm at VIP10 and came to the same conclusion. Theres little point in me doing more than the monthly card and pulling an event pack each week, as i cant keep up with clearing out my crew slots, so im focusing my efforts on a select few legendaries and leaving much of it to chance.

Just a thought if you still do the monthly card and don't buy packs, you can get more slots with the DIL as well once a month when you hit the higher tier.
DB has put a price tag on a 5*. According to the faction stores and other approximate measures, this would be 15,000 dilithium or 50,000 honor. However ludicrous that may seem. More honor would make citations more attainable, which in turn would make the need to buy extra copies of 5* cards with dilithium less pressing. In essence, lowering the hard money ceiling.
The problem is that there is no easy way to buy honour, which means that levelling up your Legends is a grind. Buying a 10 pack where you get a tiny amount of honour isn't going to make immortalising your legends any easier (so why bother).
There is no way to buy a fully kitted legend short of buying thousands of packs and just converting it to honour

I'd be surprised that many people in that high of VIP even do that anymore. I think a lot of us would rather just wait for a slot sale and get them half price now.
If you can combine the slot sale with a discounted dilithium package and maybe also a discounted iTunes gift card, you can get crew spots for about $1 each by being patient. I've been able to grow my slots by 30-40 each time over the last couple of sales doing it that way.
But then it is no fun playing the game knowing you are probably going to have to wait 4 months to grow your crew slots. Why do we have to pay a second time to keep characters we already paid for again? I forget the logic behind that.

Because a poor programming decision led to potential server issues which led to an idea on how to make more money.

True I usually binge a lil on the half price sales. But if you are hurting for slots...
based on my squad, and how we compete and rank, I am pretty sure more of their total revenue is coming from people spending $10-20 a week (avg) then $100+.
I can assure you with certainty, that one fifth of your squad makes do with exactly 5$ a month
I would argue that anything that affects the bracket you mentioned non-trivially would have a huge impact on total revenue via the whales. But I agree that without data or set parameters on how much more honor would need to be awarded, this is hard to prove.
As has been suggested in the other thread linked to on page 1, a 10:1 exchange ratio (in contrast to the 91:1 currently in place for a 5* citation) would be more appropriate. That would give the 100$ crew offer (on average): 2 copies of the 5*, 1 other copy via the included 10 event packs (at 10% chance of legendaries) and enough honor for half of a citation. Assuming another copy from a DYC, 125$ would translate to alternating between a 4/5 and a 5/5 every week. Maybe a (former) whale can shed some light onto how much money this would currently take.
I actually try to make that point that I disagree with the view that giving more value is somehow a negative or some zero sum game where more value to the customer is a negative to the company.

This is why I will never be more than a monthly card player. Ever. I could be VIP 14 tomorrow if I saw the long term value of it. But I just don't see it. Help me see it DB. I want to spend more, but I need to see the value.

Exactly why I didn't spend a small fortune on this game. VIP8 at 100$ after 2 years of playing the game daily. I see zero incentive to spend more money. All I will get is more pawns to airlock. And that is boring.
Well I just had my first behold with all immortalized crew. For me, that's the signal that premium portal packs are no longer worth it. So until that is altered by DB I'm no longer taking deals.
Since it should be very easy to fix by Db I'm assuming it is a conscious decision to allow this to happen.
